STRIKE ONE: Britney Spears sparked a media frenzy last Sunday when it was reported the singer was headed for the emergency room. Gossip blog sites reported earlier that evening that a bodyguard had taken Spears to an ER at Century City Doctors Hospital, and the paparazzi burst into action.

 

However, it turned out that Britney was merely on her way to see dentist-to-the-stars, Dr. Billy Dorfman! The reports of an emergency turned out to be false, as a source close to the singer told Access that Britney received routine check-up dental treatment. Britney's manager issued a statement to Access, calling the whole frenzy "ridiculous" and asking that everyone "leave her alone right now and give her some space."

 

STRIKE TWO: Fast-forward three days later to Wednesday, and reports appear of another trip to the hospital for Britney, but it's revealed that she's just gone to the dentist again. Speculation erupts over whether Britney is getting an "Extreme Makeover," due to Dr. Dorfman's sometime appearances on that show.

 

Dr. Dorfman himself gives Access the scoop on what's really been going on:

 

"We checked her teeth. We did Zoom whitening. Everybody in Hollywood whitens their teeth. C'mon give the kid a break! Just let her whiten her teeth." As for the first visit on Sunday, Dorfman says, "Britney came in here Sunday. She had a tooth she wanted me to check. Unfortunately her driver accidentally went to the emergency room in Century City instead of my office. It's right in front."

 

And those "Extreme Makeover" rumors? Not true. "She is not having an extreme dental makeover, OK?," says Dorfman. "This is just routine dental care."

 

STRIKE THREE: Was it dental care Britney sought on Thursday when she returned to the area of the same hospital she'd been at twice already this week? No! Rather than a three-peat with Dr. Dorfman, she was actually visiting a lawyer's office in the building next door, coming to a divorce settlement with her estranged husband, Kevin Federline.
