Yeh i really rate it! Not exactly sure it'll be great live though and i think you have to listen to it a couple of times to get it really in your head so I'd say probs only a top ten tune in the competition
Love it...based on last year's success for the pre-qualified finalists I would say it will come 12th/13th although I would love it to come top 3
oooo i really like it, i'm still trying not to listen to the songs until the night

Why? It means the growers won't grow, when you have the choice, after week's of listens you'll be able to tell if the live performance is good enough :P

Yeh but you lose the surprise of the night and it's less fun when you know you're gonna dislike a song before it's even started <_<

It also means that you can take a balanced view and not be distracted from the crapness of a song by gimmicks a la Scooch

It always gives me something to look forward to as I enjoy watching my favourite songs

I feel that Lordi was massively distracted by their gimmick as was Marie N...take awy their masks & costumes and her striptease act and you're left with two very average songs

Indeed :( Both would've just been top 10/15 had it not been for the gimmick, Never Let You Go last year coulda survived without the piano woman and probably would've won, and Ira Losco was ROBBED in 2002 (even though the boob glitter may have boosted a couple of votes :kink:)

because it will mean i won't know what to expect which will make the show better :P AND it will mean i will choose the song which is best on the night rather than making a song a favourite before the show, when i might not like it on the night :P .. does that make sense?

OK, it makes sense, but your judgement may be clouded by silly gimmicks :(

The best thing to do for you would be to start listening to all of the songs from the day of the semi-final, which is fair for the semi-final songs and means also that they don't get the advantage over final songs :funky:

The winning semi-finalists will always have an advantage...the finalists have to work twice as hard as many people will have heard the semi-finalists already...all of the semi-finalists coming in the top 12 last year proves this...

It takes a brilliant song to get past the winning semi-finalists (Helena, Chiara, No Name 2005 and Mihai and Anna Vissi 2006) are the only finalists to come top 10 in the last 2 years...

Having said that, Finland probably still would have won if they had already been in the final last year so perhaps its just that the semi-finalists up their game to make sure they qualify while the standard of some of the finalists in 2006 was absolutely appalling

I wonder how many years it'll be until we have a top ten made up completely of finalists?

Actually, with new rules, probably next year :(

I wouldn't be surprised if this year sees the 10 semi finalists as the 10 finalists to be honest...the Big 4 don't seem to be able to pull in the votes recently and of the other ten finalists only Russia, Sweden and potentially Greece have songs that I can see finishing in the top 10...unless the Europeans go for the Spanish boyband or the gimmicks of the UK...I really can't see France or Germany doing that well

I can see Ukraine just edging into the top 10  And France/Germany may cause a shock and claim #10 ^_^

Ukraine perhaps but I'm hoping Denmark might make the final as their drag queen song is better than Ukraine's and people will only vote for one of them...

I just can't predict Spain or Germany...I can see quite a few countries going for the jazz sound of Germany as it is so laidback in comparison to everything else...I think it will finish about 15th...France will need a gimmick and I hear they might perform in a snowglobe so that would be perfect lol!

I like how these last few years how germany has sent something so different :P I will prob start listening to the songs from the semi finals because the contest will have started :P

They always do don't they? :o I mean look at their record from 1998:

1998 - Guildo Horn - need I say any more?

1999 - A load of fat men singing about going to Jerusalem.

2000 - Wadde hadde dudde da or something? Madness anyway.

2001 - Gentle ballad from "a chest to remember" Michelle. - Terry Wogan quote!

2002 - Blind woman singing average song.

2003 - Camp, Europop.

2004 - Max aiming to get the older viewers' vote.

2005 - That dire "rock" song.

2006 - Country appears. :o

2007 - Something incredibly different again.
