Britney Spears is to blame for her recent meltdown because she's too weak to handle her fame, according to pop rival Avril Lavigne. The SK8R Boi star claims Spears can't point the finger at the media for her headline-grabbing spells in rehab and her bizarre hair-shaving episode - because all celebrities have to deal with the fame that comes with their success. She says, "What's happened to Britney is all down to who she is as a person. If you want a piece of this business you have to be able to deal with it. "You can't complain about the pressures, the paparazzi, the madness because that's the job."
April 2, 200718 yr As much as I love Avril more than Britney - people are OBSESSED, the paparazi stalk Britney and hound her and torment her far more than I think Avril could ever imagine or experience. It's not right for any celebrity to be treated like every single second of their life is public property and the way the American media treats celebrities is sickening and wrong and there should be laws against it.

I couldn't care less what goes on in a celebrity#s private life. I think yeh they are famous there will be some coverage but to the extent of rumours and constant stalking - it's just crazy - though Britney has shot herself in the foot by going off the rails - it's made the sick bast*rds even more desperate to get pictures and what not now. I have never cared about what a celebrity does with their private life - if their acting/music whatever they do is good to me and they make a good contribution to society who cares what they do outside of work? I mean what exactly has marriage and children got to do with being a popstar? <_<
April 2, 200718 yr Hmmm, I think Avril was unfair with Britney :( I agree with her that every artist should deal with the exposure, because that comes with the fame and the great things of being an artists, but with Britney I think everyone agrees that the media has gone beyond far.

April 2, 200718 yr Avril Lavigne can go f*** herself. She is juat a little prude b**ch who feels like she can just judge people, Avril wouldn't be able to deal with that kind of press either. I have lost all respect for her as an artist.
April 2, 200718 yr I think that's harsh and that's too bad because I like Avril..Britney is constantly hounded by the press/paparazzi and it gets to a crazy level..she's dealing with a lot, too.
