18 Singles And A Singles Box Set

Following the same plan as the “Elvis 18 UK #1s†campaign from 2005, which resulted in sales of over 750,000 units, Sony/BMG will release a new set of 18 singles, this time classic singles which were not part of the first campaign.

The campaign will run from August to December, followed by a complete box set also released in December. The 18 singles will be released over a period of 17 weeks, on CD, 10 vinyl, and digital download, with a collector’s edition numbered box at the beginning of the campaign, and a complete box (not numbered and slimmed down) in December 2007.

Still unconfirmed as to whether they mean the UK or not. Hoping for more news about which singles are involved, but if it is the UK, looks like we're going to have a re-run of the last campaign ;) Be great to get Elvis to #1 a few more times

Brian Quinn has posted this on the 18s B)

The tracks for the new Campaign commencing 13th August, 2007 are:

Heartbreak Hotel; Suspicious Minds; Blue Suede Shoes; Hound Dog; Teddy Bear; Don't; Party; Hard Headed Woman; King Creole; A Big Hunk O' Love; A Mess Of Blues; His Latest Flame; Viva Las Vegas; In The Ghetto; You Don't Have To Say You Love Me; Always On My Mind; An American Trilogy and Burning Love.

I urge all fans to get behind this Campaign so that Elvis can get another couple of No.1's. Hopefully, this time around, we will not have a Charity Single to compete with e.g. Tony Christie/Peter Kay's 'Is This The Way To Amarillo' which I am sure cost Elvis several No.1's.

Are we ready to do it all again :yahoo:

apart from the collectors angle, i'm not sure why they are doing this. surely any die hard fan will already own all them, or am i missing something. Will this not give the Elvis detractors more ammunition to complain about him.

I'd be very surprised if he gets any bids at all, Brian. It's a crazy amount he's after. I queued up and bought all the singles, despite all the hassle we had in getting them, and you know what? I played them all  I didn't look on it as an investment, just a lovely collection to own and a way to get Elvis back in the limelight........oh and to get a few more #1s :yahoo:

This was posted on ElvisNews.com but I'm a bit confused as (Marie's The Name Of) His Latest Flame was included in the last 18s Singles box

When i was doing my radio universe threads, you always had to get up early on monday mornings.

2 years ago now. Time sure does fly.

Suspicious Minds was last in the chart in April 2001.

It was a live version that peaked at No.15.

It would be fantastic to get Elvis back to #1 with Suspicious Minds the week of the 30th anniversary of his death

You can preorder the singles fron the HMV website now - good news for those of us who will be away when the're first released

That is a great logo

I was reading about these new releases in my local paper yesterday. I think I will get Heartbreak Hotel as a momento.

Reading that tracklist brought back some lovely memories, I love so many of them.

Edited by Susie

How do peeps think Elvis will do with the re-issues? No.1, top 10's or top 30?

With chart sales very low at the moment he could do quite well!
