July 28, 200717 yr Author Hi Highlander69 I'm not too sure about this one. I think people are thinking about ordering them online this time, as opposed to queueing up on a Monday morning, but I don't feel the same urgency to get them, although I hope I'm proved wrong :) It was certainly a novelty last time, although there were so many distribution problems with the limited numbers, it was crazy at times  That said, I hope it will be as successful as the 2005 campaign and it would be great to get a few more #1s for Elvis especially for Suspicious Minds which is released on the 30th anniversary of his death. I'll be thrilled if that happens. If not #1s, it will be great to have them all go top 10

July 31, 200717 yr It would have been good if "Moody Blue" had been included in the re-issues. Never mind, I hope "If I can Dream" finally becomes a Top 10 hit. It made No.11 the week I was born in March 1969!
July 31, 200717 yr Author Moody Blue is a fantastic song My personal fave is I Just Can't Help Believin' and I would have loved to have seen that one included. Not sure how they decided which tracks to include in this set but there's some great ones there especially An American Trilogy and of course, If I Can Dream. Since the Elvis/Celine Dion duet, more people will be aware of that song, and, as good as the duet was, the original version is so powerful, very special to an Elvis fan
August 1, 200717 yr I know what you mean about the track selection. "I Just Can't Help Believing" would have been a great choice! :yahoo: In 2005 when he had his No.1's "Top Of The Pops" couldn't show any footage of Elvis. They said the Elvis Presley Estate wouldn't allow it so they just showed a few seconds of the song with some Elvis stills. Although I remember "One Night" was performed by the guy who was playing Elvis in a stage production at the time. It makes me wonder who is actually behind the re-issues...probably the British branch of his record label as I don't think any of the releases have come out in the US.
August 1, 200717 yr Author It sure was annoying when TOTP only played a snippet of the songs and even worse had an impersonator singing the track  As far as I know, I think that the BBC and EPE had a falling out some time ago which was why they were unable to actually show a clip of Elvis singing :( On the subject of the releases by Sony/BMG, the Americans had a similar campaign with an Elvis #1 Singles Box Set and 50th Anniversary Re-Release of Heartbreak Hotel, back in January 2006 http://www.elvis.com/news/full_story.asp?id=934 Maybe Sony/BMG like to try things out in the UK first to see how successful it’s likely to be before they release in the US. The UK has a particularly strong Elvis fan base. :D
August 2, 200717 yr Maybe Sony/BMG like to try things out in the UK first to see how successful it’s likely to be before they release in the US. The UK has a particularly strong Elvis fan base. :D Yep, Elvis has a huge UK fan base so looking forward to see how he fares this time round! :)

August 20, 200717 yr Author I have started to collect mine, but this time i ordered on line, so i don't ahve to queue outside HMV at the crack of Dawn every monday. :w00t: Me too, Lesley. I knew I would be away for the first three, and, even though it was an experience getting them from the shop last time, it's easier this way
August 23, 200717 yr Author My Baby Left Me'/'One Sided Love Affair' HMV CD/Vinyl single review http://www.elvisinfonet.com/cdreview_mybabyleftmesingle.html
August 24, 200717 yr Author Been into Birmingham city centre and I see that the Virgin and HMV stores seem to have loads of the releases, so different from 2005 As long as they're selling though
August 26, 200717 yr Author Sunday Chart Updates: Again no #1 on the UK charts. "Blue Suede Shoes" did only reach #13 and "My Baby Left Me" didn't come further than the # 19 spot. "Suspicious Minds" dropped to #26. In the album chart "The King" dropped one spot to #2. On the Irish album chart "The King" remains steady at #3 in its second week while the "ELV1S 30 #1 Hits" compilation climbs from #70 to #46 On the Irish single Top 50 Elvis is listed at: #20 "Suspicious Minds" (from #21); #24 "Blue Suede Shoes" (new entry); #31 "Heartbreak Hotel" (from #19); #49 "My Baby Left Me" (new entry). In Australia Elvis is pretty steady on the charts. "The King" remains #4 on the Top 50 Album chart. On the Music DVD chart the "Aloha" and "Comeback" DVDs flipped places at #2 and #3 with the "Aloha" special as the highest ranked Elvis DVD this week. Source: Various / Updated: Aug 26, 2007 Not as good as we hoped for, but it's early days for these releases and, as someone commented on another board, 'I doubt any other artists could get 50+ year old recordings into the charts.' B)
August 29, 200717 yr Hi Tilly, I was disappointed that "Blue Suede Shoes" missed the Top 10. It was there all week but missed out on Saturday sales. :( I managed to get the last copy of "My Baby Left Me" in my local HMV. They jacked the price up to £2.99!! Did you hear the chart on Sunday? When they came to play "My Baby Left Me" at No. 19 they played "Heartbreak Hotel" (..'Since My Baby Left Me'...I despair!!) I think we're gonna struggle to get any of the re-issues Top 10 this time round. My copy of "Blue Suede Shoes was numbered 1021!! :naughty: Catcha later. Ian. :D
August 29, 200717 yr Author Hi Ian Yes, I heard that mess up  Talk about total ignorance on the part of the BBC and they're supposed to know about music <_< My Baby Left Me isn't even released by Sony/BMG like Heartbreak Hotel! Tbh, I rarely listen to Radio 1 these days and , can you wonder  I agree, I think it's going to be difficult to get Top 10s this time but however high the releases get, it's not bad going for someone who's been dead for 30 years, but then, Elvis was class, unlike so many of the new artists, whom no one will remember in 5 or 10 years, let alone 30 Carole
August 30, 200717 yr Hi Carole, Hound Dog's gone from provisional Top 5 to Top 10...I think we're gonna miss it again come Sunday!
August 30, 200717 yr Author Hi Ian I heard that yesterday's midweek position for Hound Dog was 7 so I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a Top 10 place on Sunday B) I would love Elvis to get at least one #1 from this campaign and from what's been talked about on another board, I think with an extra effort from the fans, we have a chance with either If I Can Dream or, maybe more likely, In The Ghetto :D
August 31, 200717 yr Hiya Carole, I don't think we'll get any of the re-issues to No1 this time round. The number 1's at the mo are selling over 30 000!! I'd love "If I Can Dream" to get Top 10...Everything crossed!!
