November 3, 200717 yr Author It really is another fantastic collection :cheer: And the added bonus is Elvis gets a few more weeks on the charts too :yahoo:
November 4, 200717 yr Author Well, 'Viva Las Vegas' made it to 15 :D Two places higher than when it was originally released so I'm well pleased with that  Found this piece of trivia about VLV and it's composer B) ''The song "Viva Las Vegas" was written in 1964 by Doc Pomus and Mort Shuman and recorded by Elvis Presley for his Viva Las Vegas film vehicle of that year. Somewhat amusingly, it is said that Doc Pomus wrote the words to "Viva Las Vegas" some thirty years before ever venturing west of Newark, New Jersey.''
November 5, 200717 yr Nice bit of trivia Carole. Really chuffed we're on the way up again with a Top 15!!! I'd forgotten that it only peaked at 17 back in '64 which makes this new peak a bit of an anomaly. (suspect spelling!)
November 5, 200717 yr Author Definately good news for VLV, Ian Thought I’d post a clip of Viva Las Vegas. Great song and it brings back fantastic memories to me of this past summer when I watched the film on a huge screen in the grounds of Graceland. Surreal  AdUbcOFET58 In The Ghetto  zmVFnhO3A98 If you have a chance to get hold of an album called Suspicious Minds – The Memphis 1969 Anthology, grab it. It’s a fantastic album of the great music Elvis made at American Sound. Disc 1 is the regular album, whilst Disc 2 contains some alternate takes and for me, personally, this disc contains my fave versions of Suspicious Minds and In The Ghetto. Tbh, this is probably one of my faves (if not fave) Elvis album  Have a listen to the samples on Disc 2, often, just Elvis with no backing vocals B) http://www.amazon.co.uk/Suspicious-Minds-E...p;sr=1-2#disc_1
November 7, 200717 yr Author At the moment, midweek sales show 'In The Ghetto' is Top 10 B) Just hope it stays that way come Sunday
November 8, 200717 yr At the moment, midweek sales show 'In The Ghetto' is Top 10 B) Just hope it stays that way come Sunday  Well my heart says yes but head sadly says unlikely. I'll be happy if we can stay Top 15!
November 11, 200717 yr Author Not quite Top 10, but #13 for 'In The Ghetto' B) Not bad for a song that's almost 40 years old
November 12, 200717 yr Not quite Top 10, but #13 for 'In The Ghetto' B) Not bad for a song that's almost 40 years old  I was dancing last night...No.13!!!! fantastic and his sales were 9278! :yahoo:
November 18, 200717 yr Author You Don't Have To Say You Love Me #16  Looks like we're gonna get 18 Top 20 singles for Elvis and it's so well deserved for the King :yahoo: I posted this in the pinned Links section, but don't want anyone to miss it. It'a a fantastic article and a fine testament to the greatest singer ever :cheer: http://www.nps.gov/nhl/designations/samples/tn/Graceland.pdf
November 25, 200717 yr Author No 16 is great, my box is getting pretty full now.  Mine too, Lesley, it's looking good  And the latest Elvis single reissue Always On My Mind enters the UK chart at #17
November 26, 200717 yr Mine too, Lesley, it's looking good  And the latest Elvis single reissue Always On My Mind enters the UK chart at #17 Yeah, No.17 made me a bit twitchy but I'm sure the final 2 releases should keep the Top 20 run going!!
November 26, 200717 yr Author Yep, two more to go and fingers crossed we can make them all Top 20 :cheer: And when the releases are finished, Elvis will still be in the news with Elvis Ain’t Dead by Scouting For Girls , due out December 17th B) Catchy song, I like it :yahoo: gFzREgP3RiU
November 27, 200717 yr Author My copy of "American Trilogy" is numbered 00187!!!! :cheer: Wow!! Low number, Ian  At the moment, An American Trilogy is Top 10 :cheer:
November 28, 200717 yr Wow, Just checked the midweek updates. Sales are low and Elvis is sitting at No.1 on the "Physical" Top 40!!! :cheer: Probably no need to get too excited 'cos come Sunday he'll have dropped to Top 15 when both Downloads and Physicals are tallyed up! :( Doing well though!!! :yahoo: Edited November 28, 200717 yr by highlander69
November 28, 200717 yr Author As long as it ends up Top 20, I shall be happy Naturally I'd love a Top 10, but I'm not holding my breath. There's been a number of reasons why these releases haven't done as well as the previous campaign in 2005 like lack of promotion, airplay and downloads have played a big part this time. I think there haven't been a great number of downloads due to the nature of the releases and probably Elvis fans prefer to have the physical release B) No worries, Elvis in 2007 is still doing great

Radio 1 DJ's don't understand this concept 'cos a couple of weeks ago Fearne said that Elvis was charting on Downloads only!!! You get the feeling that if Radio 1 could get away with it they would happily not play Elvis at all!! The Top 40 gets played on the music channels and they play everything but when it comes to the Elvis tracks they say they have no footage and can't play him!! Reminds me of when TOTP's couldn't play any of the No 1 re-issues 'cos of the Elvis Estate having a problem with showing footage of him!! I despair!

I'll be honest, I don't bother with Radio 1 these days because of their attitude towards playing Elvis  I like a lot of the current artists but would rather listen to a Radio station that plays not only the new stuff, but music by the likes of Elvis and others too! What we want to hear, not just what they think we should listen to B)
