Posted March 7, 200619 yr Well this year is a crucial time for pop music, as the genre seems to have been phased out over the past year, with such acts as Rachel Stevens, Lee Ryan, Liberty X, Natalie Imbruglia and Charlotte Church having major disappointing sales, compared to their predicted forecast sales. So the question I pose is, who will make it big in 2006? It looks like the Sugababes are on a roll, but will Red Dress give them another major hit to carry on their streak? Girls Aloud's Chemistry has sold a lot less than previous album What Will The Neighbours Say? And with their last single faltering, and then dropping like a brick are they over? Whole Lotta History has to do the business for them or they could become just as the new single says. What does the future hold for Lee Ryan? His self titled debut solo album charted at #6 after a top3 single, and plummeted down the chart, never to return, now after 2 singles consecutively missing the top10, and rumours of a new gospel album on the way, how will he do? What does 2006 hold for Pop music? By the way welcome to BuzzJack, all of your needs can be met here. Enjoy ^_^
March 7, 200619 yr All of them are one trick ponies, everything has been done before. All manufactured acts all die pretty much after the 2nd or 3rd album, no one want's them anymore. There's always new ones coming out thanks (<_<) to X factor and other crap shows, they just move over and the other ones take it from there. It's mostly kids who choose the top 10 ect, they have the run. They admire whoever they see they get believed into thinking a certain artists is good, it's okay for kids they don't know any better, they also idolise them, wanna be them which is a shame cos they are spending all their pocket money on someone who's a fake. New artists come and go, no band/artist is around forever. Acts today won't be remembered as much as them from the 60's to 80's, them artists are still talked about today but the ones from last year are never hardly talked about.

March 7, 200619 yr im not sure.... pop has lost its impetus, the current form is very tired, we are suffering from overkill. im not expecting pop to be big in '06, or indeed for some time to come. many acts will try revivals, the svengalis will try to push new acts, but we have heard it all before, a new angle/fashion is needed if pop is to return, but for now, its dormant.
March 7, 200619 yr CYNDI LAUPER  Nah just kidding, I'm hoping Pink will shape things up a bit :cheer:
March 7, 200619 yr Kelly Clarkson's album is due out in Novemeber - January so she will be more of a 2007 person I think, but 2 Uk singles yet so still hope
March 7, 200619 yr Harsh words Clare, but quite true unfortunately :( The sever was being a jellybelly, I didn't think it posted...Did it post more than once? It wasn't ment to come across harsh BTW.... :)
March 8, 200619 yr Author It's all about Girls Aloud and ze Sugababes. I would hope so, Sugababes are more likely, but Girls Aloud I think are running out of steam :(
March 8, 200619 yr Kelly Clarkson, Girls Aloud and Suagababes have been the best pop so far. Actually Simon Webbe aswell I've been quite impressed by. And hopefully this will bea good year for Mcfly but I think it's more probable that they'll split up this year.

Yeah them splitting up is looking more and more likely, especially since Danny has some kinda solo deal
March 8, 200619 yr And their sales also seem to be rapidly declining. If a new "pure pop" artist manages to strike big without the added stigma of a reality TV show, being an ex-member of a big band or a celebrity connection, I'll be gobsmacked. -_-

March 9, 200619 yr Can't wait for Kelly's new release but other than that i think it will be Christina's year.
March 9, 200619 yr Right now, apart from Sugababes and Kelly Clarkson, I can't see anyone  :( I'm lookin' forward to Britney's new material and Christina's as well, although I don't think it will be anything major ... Oh and Rachel Stevens' of course! But I am not going into that right now, as I am not predicting great things
