Posted April 6, 200718 yr this is the answer Tom Meighan of Kasabian gave when asked to reveal their idea of musical hell in Todays Independent "I keep hearing how emo music is bringing kids together and that it's got these positive messages and all that, but if it's damaging teenagers and if it's making them depressed, how can that be a good thing? All it causes is moaning teenagers. There's nothing positive about it. It may upset people, but emo is dead in my eyes. f*** emo. Just enjoy the world". and this is what Emily Eavis, Organiser of Glastonbury said: Musical hell is probably clowns playing emo. Real-life clowns. That would scare me. Clowns are quite scary anyway, so a lot of clowns and emo together would be quite terrifying. Emo has a huge following, but it's not so much about emo: it's the fact that it would be clowns doing emo. It's not that I absolutely can't stand it at all, but there's something about it that is slightly evocative of the moronic angst you get in some types of emo. It's not Morrissey angst or even Travis angst. Happy clowns and this moronic angst! It's typical of teenagers shut away in their rooms, but that's probably quite a good thing: most teenagers who get to love music do that. I spend the day listening to the radio, changing between Radio 1, Radio 2, Xfm and 6Music, so you get to hear the spectrum; there's quite a lot of emo about. do you agree with their viewpoints??? or not????
April 6, 200718 yr Old Emotional Hardcore, or groovy cult American comedian Emo Philips...? No The p***-poor excuse for "Emo" that exists today - Yes....
April 6, 200718 yr its just another teen musical style, teens always get depressed and bored anyway no matter what flavour of music is prevelant. i tollerate it, theres worse music then 'emo', i just object to it being regarded as emotional as if emotion has never been in music before!!! lol... ITS NOWT NEW!
April 7, 200718 yr I thought it was called emo cos all the singers whine in that Emo Phillips voice. Either way, yes f*** it.

April 9, 200718 yr Fall Out Boy are branded emo, there music isnt depressing so im going to say the guy from Kasabian sounds as though he is talking absolute bollocks, and Emily Eavis is only saying theres a fair bit of emo music around atm, which is right. And I do think a clown singing This Aint a scene could be scary  Edited April 9, 200718 yr by Jark101
April 9, 200718 yr Is that what constitutes emo - that's it's depressing? Does that make Joy Division and The Smiths emo? No, it doesn't. What I think deserves to be 'f***ed' is that American boys in eyeliner and dog-collars playing basic chords and whining music. Does that include Fall Out Boy? Yes, it does.

I wouldnt call Fall out Boy emo at all, they are more mainstream pop/punk(sell outs) now and it isnt emos that wear dog collars that is goths ;)
April 10, 200718 yr Kill all EMO freaks, I hate them I really do. 'Life is sooo $h!t, blah blah', just go kill yourself then you tosser! And get a fuking grip.
April 10, 200718 yr Kill all EMO freaks, I hate them I really do. 'Life is sooo $h!t, blah blah', just go kill yourself then you tosser! And get a fuking grip. I doubt they have the guts to, they just enjoy trying to be part of a scene... :manson:
April 10, 200718 yr it isnt emos that wear dog collars that is goths ;) WRONG... It's sad little Marilyn Manson, HIM, Evanescence and MCR fans round my way mate... In Camden, the very seat of all things Goth and Alternative and dont even think you can actually argue with me on this one... Virtually NO self-respecting, TRUE Goth would even consider wearing a Dog Collar anymore, except the ones who are into Fetish and BDSM (which you'll have to concede puts it into an entirely different context).... Not since all these bloody Emos started wearing them... <_< What you have to realise is the difference between GOFFICK (Manson, HIM, MCR, Ev; badly applied, smudged make-up, scowling, petulance, silly baggy "bondage" trousers, black hoodies, black workshirts with snakes or skulls on them. Main source of clothing - Criminal Damage or Lucky 13) and GOTHIC (Sisters of Mercy, Suspiria, Within Temptation, Leaves' Eyes, Bauhaus, Siouxsie; immaculately applied make-up which takes HOURS, a sense of aloofness, a touch of well-placed arrogance, vanity, a poetic or artistic bent, a sense of irony, velvet, leather, fishnet, nice ruffled or pinstripe shirts, corsets, flowy dresses. Main source of clothing - Black Rose, Raven, Morgana or tailored/specially made unique items, 'off-the-peg' is for the riff raff.... :P ). Hope we're clear on this one..... Emo kids/Gofficks are NOT Goths, although they sure as hell want to be.... -_-

You will get no where in life stereotyping people,to be honest i like most emos i know,(none of which wear dog collars ) and i dont know one which follows your stereotyical views. April 11, 200718 yr You will get no where in life stereotyping people,to be honest i like most emos i know,(none of which wear dog collars ) and i dont know one which follows your stereotyical views. Well, the ones who hang around my manor in Camden act like a right bunch of silly little sods....
April 11, 200718 yr You will get no where in life stereotyping people,to be honest i like most emos i know,(none of which wear dog collars ) and i dont know one which follows your stereotyical views. Says the person who stereotyped just 6 posts above...
April 11, 200718 yr You will get no where in life stereotyping people,to be honest Says the person who falsely claims that all Goths wear Dog Collars, I'm a Goth, and I have never worn one for going out to a club or hanging round in the streets (not saying I've never ever worn one though - see one of my earlier posts and figure it out for yourself.... :P ) - pot calling kettle black mate....
April 11, 200718 yr  I doubt they have the guts to, they just enjoy trying to be part of a scene... :manson: Just admit you aspire to be emo you liar. -_-
April 11, 200718 yr Just admit you aspire to be emo you liar. -_- Why would i want to be an emo? I don't listen to the music or have the look? :D

Emo kids/Gofficks are NOT Goths, although they sure as hell want to be.... -_- I love HIM, I used to wear HIM hoodies but never called myself a 'Goff' I knew what I was and that was a 'Mosher', the clothes was so comfortable it was me I loved it. I'm not that person anymore, only thing I still have is my T-shirts. I dress more like a Goth now but I'm not one, got more Black Rose and Raven than owt else on that list. Altho that too is now changing I'm going on to the more expensive side of things instead of paying under (got no pound sign) 100 quid for a corset it's now going over the 100 pound price mark, and the same with skirts 40-50 now 90 to over 100.
