Posted April 11, 200718 yr Nelly Furtado has recorded Spanish versions of two songs from her current album "Loose" and one from 2003's "Folklore" for release on a new version of "Loose," says the Canadian singer. Furtado worked on the translations with Colombian-born composer Julio Reyes, whose credits include Latin American artists Ricky Martin, Paulina Rubio and Thalia, as well as American-born singers Marc Anthony and wife, Jennifer Lopez, who hired him for her brand new Spanish album, "Como Ama una Mujer." "I started working on these Spanish tracks in New York and when I was in Las Vegas, any chance I got," says Furtado, who worked with Reyes in Miami. "I recorded a couple of them and they're going to be released on a new American version of my CD -- Spanish translations of 'All Good Things (Come To An End),' 'Try' and 'In God's Hands,'" says Furtado. "I put my full-length Spanish version on hold. I don't know when I'm doing that, but I hope to produce one, one day." The Victoria, BC-born Furtado, who is of Portuguese descent, has recorded in Spanish before, notably a version of "Powerless (Say What You Want)" with Colombian rock musician Juanes with whom she also cut "Fotografia" for his album, "Un Dia Normal." More recently, for "Loose," she worked with him on "Te Busque" for the Spanish-language chorus. She also recorded "No Hay Igual" in Spanish, except for one English line. "Honestly, I wrote my first song in Spanish with Julio," says Furtado. "He played chords on the piano and I started to sing melodies and some words in Spanish and then he perfected lyrics, and made them make more sense, which makes sense because my first language is English and my Portuguese and Spanish are not as good, but I do write some lyrics in those languages, like 'No Hay Igual' on my album "I also think the fact that I've grown up also listening to Portuguese music and Italian music helps when I sing in Spanish," she adds. "It's a new path. It's definitely dramatic, even more streamlined and iconic than my last English album. So it will be interesting to see where I go with it." No street date has been scheduled yet for the bonus version of "Loose." The original has scanned about five million units worldwide, and has achieved gold, platinum or multi-platinum in 27 countries
