Bland, bland, bland :cheer:

Though that might only be because it's my first listen  The two songs I've heard before, 'You Rock My World' and 'Break of Dawn' are the best so far - but I also like 'Speechless'.

Every song is bland, repetitive, the beat is the same, each one moves along with the same sloooooooooooow pace :manson:

I know Scotty likes this, what about everyone else? ^_^

I love "Don't walk away" aswell

And how can I stop losing you

How can I begin to say

When there’s nothing left to do but walk away

But I agree it isn't his most flashy album !! ^_^

Maybe I need more listens then  Butterflies, The Lost Children, Whatever Happens - they all seem like good growers ^_^

I say this about every MJ album I get then I love it, so meh

It took me a while to like this one, as its not as powerful, or as hard hitting as all his other albums.

But i really like it ^_^

1. Bad

2. Thriller

3. Invincible

4. Off The Wall

5. Dangerous

Thats my order ^_^

I only have four of them but:

1) Bad

2) Thriller

3) Off The Wall

4) Invincible

^_^

I'd rather the Michael Jackson albums:

1. Off The Wall

2. Thriller

3. History Continues

4. Invincible

5. Bad

6. Dangerous

It is really great once it grows on you imo. I really did'nt like it when I came out, so hopefully you'll like it eventually ^_^

The main problem with this album is that it is very over-produced, it does not have that raw Michael sound to it, quite experimental as well. Michael only wrote 2 songs alone on the whole album (Speechless & The Lost Children), the rest of the songs have endless co-writers and produces. That's one of the main problems imo. The vast majority of MJ's best songs are the ones he wrote by himself, such as Billie Jean, Beat it, Smooth Criminal, Bad etc. -_-

It is more slick sounding R&B, which does'nt make it as exciting or good as the likes of Bad, due to it not being a pop/rock albums with great guitar riffs and big chorus. -_-

It does have some real good songs though. such as Heartbreaker, 2000 Watts, The Lost Children, Unbreakable, Speechless, Whatever Happens" (with Carlos Santana) and Break Of Dawn. But my faves are definatly Butterflies and You Rock My World. His voice does sounds amazing on the album though. ^_^

But I am glad to hear that for his new album he is going back to playing instuments again, as apose to computerized R&B. :P

Dangerous and HiStory are both far better albums imo, but this is still very good and underrated once it grows. ^_^

Agreed

It's quite shocking how few albums he's made considering he's been in the business for 43 years  Only 6 proper studio albums in the last 30+ years :o His 4 Motown studio albums are always forgotton though :( But I supose he was only a little kid, and did'nt write anything then. -_-

1. Bad

2. Thriller

3. Off The Wall

5. HiStory

Yep,

Bad is let down by the title-track, the lyrics are very much "Yo look it me, I'm down with Run DMC & Public Enemy" (i.e. Very embarrassing) and the video hardly helps matters.

Speed Demon sounded dated in 1987 and has too many vocal ticks which still failed to disguise a very poor melody & chorus.

Just Good Friends is a gratuitous duet with Stevie Wonder with not much going on.

Another Part Of Me - How on earth was that a single. It was just a very mediocre album track at best.

I Just Can't Stop Loving You is wrecked by the cringeworthy spoken intro.

Dirty Diana is a fairly solid rock track but it's not as good as Beat It or Give In To Me.

However, I do agree that Man In The Mirror, Smooth Criminal & Leave Me Alone are works of greatness, while my favourite track from Bad remains Liberian Girl even if the video is very egotistical.

But overall it is a big drop off from the previous two albums, because it smacks of self-indulgence which peaked with his huge statue going down the Thames & his (I want to use the P word but I dare not) performance at the 1996 BRITs.

No wonder Quincy Jones did not want to work with him after Bad.

On the other hand Invincible is an album by an artist who's back is against the wall. Unbreakable is the best thing he has done in a decade, while Butterflies, Break Of Dawn, You Rock My World, 2000 Watts, You Are My Life, Invincible, Cry and the fantastically eerie Whatever Happens are classics if he'd been more in vogue with the media & the public. A missed opportunity of an album.
