Posted April 14, 200718 yr Arctic Monkeys star Alex Turner has revealed that he was worried about starting work on the group's second album. The singer feared that new material would not live up to the expectations of the media and fans following the huge success of debut album Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not last year. "It properly kicked off. Last year we felt like we were in a box," Alex told The Sun. "We were only 18 and 19 when it all happened. We were playing gigs and writing great tunes. "Then it got a bit daunting. To do all this new stuff and have people scrutinise you, it’s hard. I got frightened by it all and went into my shell a bit." Not very suprising at all to be honest. Alex for sure doesn't like the limelight that he's in and I imagine they'll have all been under immense pressure to deliver an album as good as their debut, but luckily it seems like they're gonna do that. :D
April 15, 200718 yr There was always going to be a lot of pressure on the band while making their 2nd album and some artists try too hard and end up making an album which has less quality to it than it would've had they just relaxed. however if the reviews of 'Favourite Worst Nightmare,' are anything to go by Arctic Monkeys obviously had nothing to worry about. :D
April 15, 200718 yr They were bound to be worried, there could have beena huge amount of backlash, but I think they've definately pulled it off, I like the sound of this album more from what I've heard :D

April 15, 200718 yr Author Is the album heavier than the debut on the whole or is it quite balanced between the quieter and heavier songs? The new album mainly follows the pattern of the first one. It's mainly heavier tracks, but there's a couple of slower tracks a la like Riot Van off the first album.
April 15, 200718 yr I'm glad that there's a balance of tracks so there's a good amount of variation, definitley looking forward to hearing more of the heavier tracks too though. :D
