Thanks, Preston. I don't watch either show. Did they do a choreographed routine to it?

I heard a version of Faith on the radio the other day and I really didn't like it at all compared to D's version. Unfortunately the DJ didn't say who it was, but it sounded very bland to me. Apart from George Michael, who else has recorded it?

They sort of had a choreographed routine and were dressed in type for the show. It was one of the solo auditionees who sang faith alone. The show is very good compared to the rubbish that is grease produced by SC tele company on the other channel. I was so pleased to see that the BBC programme of any dream will do wiped the floor ratings wise with grease.

I had to watch between my fingers this week, when Lewis? sang "Dancing In The Moonlight". I'd have been better using them to stop up my ears. It was so bland, so lacking in any vitality. Fun songs have to be sung with pizzazz particularly in the West End in a "light" musical like Joseph.

I think the Josephs are in a difficult position. I think some of them are scared to just use a 'pop' voice and want to blend it with a show voice, to remind the judges how good a voice they've got. The guy who went out the other week, Antony?, sang his song in a full blown show voice and it just didn't work. They should just sing the song as best they can, but make sure they put personality into it.

Darius didn't sing any "show" tunes on PI but ALW was in absolutely no doubt that he could be a star of musical theatre.

I have to say Baytree that I didnt think any of the contestants ;last night showed stage presence or star quality. To me the one who did was kicked out last week., Seasmus but he was 35 but didnt look it by any means to me he had star quality and stage presence and it remains to be seen what happens with him in the future. They used the same format for him as Darius in popstars and pop idol, playing the arrogant card again and I feel this is a format for a lot of reality shows, it is used in every version of americas top model, one girl being called arrogant by the judges which no-one else can see but it makes the others turn on her. I wouldnt pay to see any of the last nights josephs on stage although I do think the young scottish boy 17, has the best voice but thats all. I really did think after last nights show, is that the best we have got.

I agree Seamus could do well in musicals but he did look too mature to me to be Joseph. I'd no more cast him as J than I would Darius, and he's much younger. Can you just imagine Big D towering over all of his brothers?

I do think that if they thought Seamus wasn't right for the role, they shouldn't have put him through just to bang on every show about his age and bring him down with all the "he's so arrogant" jibes, just because he had some confidence and didn't pretend to be mealy mouthed, oh so nervous and humble every show. It's the latter who always fly under the radar on any audience participation thing.

I could see Seamus as Che Guavara in Evita maybe. How about you?

Darius would make a great joseph, I saw Donny osmond in the part, with his hair long(or extentions) he was great - had a charisma, I can see D with his hair long and that beard..in a loin clothe in the prison scene!! I dont watch the grease or joseph progs, but on the trailer I caught I thought the short listed josephs looked a wierd bunch. To me joseph isnt a dyed blone..or campLOL

Yes Baytree I could see Seamus as Che Guavara in Evita, there is something about him reminds me of David essex but I could also see D in that role. The rumour mill somewhere I read says that ALW is thinking of doing Jesus Christ superstar but not by the reality route. but I could see Darius doing the .howard keel role in annie get your gun (american accent again) and as PIP says Joseph.

I do see what you mean, pip. Darius is young enough, charismatic, facially fine, has a great voice and he could wax/shave his chest again so I think he would make a brilliant Joseph, for concert performance(s) of the songs but......... personally, for the musical itself, I just couldn't buy a 6ft 4" Joseph unless all the other cast members were very tall too.

He'd make a super Pharoah though - middle Eastern looks and bearing, no trouble with an Arabic accent and he sings a mean Elvis.

It's just one of the many, many parts I'd like to see Darius do but probably never will. Although he's just having fun dabbling in musical theatre just now, I really can't see Darius accepting anything other than a recognised male lead in any show.

I sorted out my videos today and re-watched the popidol one, raw talent one and NOTW special one. It made me realise how good Darius was singing Dancing in the moonlight compared to the boy in Jopseph and also let there be love and make it easy on yourself, the voices in joseph dont compare nor does their emotion.
oh yes, the Pharoah - he was good, I ccan see darius in that part. The problem with me is that most everyting I see has me thinking if D would be good in the part, and I tend to think he would be good in many parts, I agree BT I suppose Darius has the problem of being tall,
That's what I was doing when I went to see 'Guys and Dolls'. It was so obvious that D would make a good Sky. The trouble was, I can't even remember the Sky they had - only what he did.

Darius for the Red Shadow!

They're reviving Kismet next year with Michael Ball in the lead, time for The Desert Song?

On DS someone was speculating about what other roles the guys could do, if they didn't win Joseph and someone was suggesting Billy Flynn and Sky Masterson for Lee.

I don't think he could look old enough for those roles. To me he's got an "Orlando Bloom" look, where even if the character is supposed to be manly, its not that credible because he's too "pretty" in a boyish way. I think he'd make a good Marius.

I could see Daniel Boyes as Billy Flynn because he has a receding hairline. However he'd have to have a low-ish speaking voice to put some gravitas into BF and I don't know if he has.

Funnily enough Baytree neither Daniel or lee have made any impression on me. The desert song, that takes me back. Could see D as the red shadow but they would have to bring it right up to date. There were a lot of that era. Vagabond king, merry widow, bless the bride, the pajama game, student prince, kismet (a takeoff of taming of the shrew?). 42nd street is on tour and may go into the westend. Paul nicholas is playing the lead at the moment and funny girl is rumoured to be returning where there is a male lead.

The film musical of The Taming Of The Shrew was called Kiss Me Kate, I think, Preston.

Kismet isn't one I know at all.

I do remember the Desert Song because John Hanson seemed to be on the television week in, week out and they always mentioned either the Red Shadow or The Desert Song as if it was the only thing he'd ever done in his whole career.

It was also one of the first and best productions of a musical that I've ever seen an amateur group give.
