Cyprus finishing 22nd in 1999 with just two points (from the United Kingdom):

It was tipped by many to win would you believe! :o It is a really good song though.

Cyndi - nuff said.

Chiara being so disappointed in 1998. :( Makes me feel nervous even watching it now! :o

Switzerland and Celine Dion beating the United Kingdom by a point. :arrr: Talk about the disappointment in Terry's voice. :( I'd just die if that ever happened again!

Gina G flopping in 1996. :(

Paul Oscar flopping for Iceland in 1997. :o

Ira Losco being beaten by Latvia on the final vote in 2002:

 you've looked in to this quite well  i wonder if celine had'nt of won, if she would be famous now?

Yeah I'm supposed to be doing homework but can't be arsed at all! So I had a think and a look round on YouTube instead. :D I think Celine would've still been very famous, but her fame wouldn't have been so instant had she finished second.

Gina G was hardly a flop, she came 8th!

Agreed with most there

She was expected to stroll away with victory though! So getting less than half of the points of the winner is pretty floppish by her standards. :(

The two biggest injustices are mentioned there David...Ira Losco should not have lost out to Marie 'striptease' N :-(

Gina's song was by far the best Eurovision song of the 1990's but perhaps the slightly limp performance in the first verse put the juries off the song a bit

Actually, a big injustice would be Selma coming 2nd in 1999 when her scandi-pop song was 100 times better than Charlotte Nilsson's song :-(

2003 was one big injustice...

Turkey, Belgium and Russia produced my 3 worst songs of that year to finish in the top 3 while Birgitta, Nicola and Lynn whose songs were infinitely better came nowhere near :-(

I loved Turkey in 2003. I also quite like Sanomi now listening back. :D Selma was incredibly unlucky to lose out to that Nilsson song, that wasn't and isn't good. -_-

Selma is just such a great summery pop song and Charlotte's is just one big cliche, like something A*Teens would have rejected for a b-side

Or like something Scooch might've done. :o Maybe Scooch will emulate her success. :(

Only in my wildest dreams  Not exactly a fan fave are they  Still that didn't stop The Olsen Brothers, Tanel & Dave & Marie N

It didn't. :o You can never tell exactly what is going to happen on the night until it arrives, never mind how many polls, odds and other things you look at.
Exaclty...I never thought Lordi would actually win and now I look back and think how could I not have seen that coming...
Is there any biggest injustice than Portugal never having a top 5 placing since 1964?
That is very unfair N-S, lol I'll agree with you there, they should have gone top 5 in 2003 for a start but Europe was on another planet in that year...
Portugal had great songs in the 60's and 70's. Were they sung in French or English, they were shots for the topping positions.

I've not heard any Portugese songs from the 60s, 70s or 80s, but the more recent ones have been very poor imo. 2003's entry was ok, and this year's isn't bad but I don't think many others have been particularly good. :( The one that finished sixth in the 1990s was good though!

Scott Fitzgerald's song is better than Celine Dion's.
