Rufus Wainwright - Going To A Town video

This track (probably the 5657th song written to lament about the US Bush Administration) has already been Record Of The Week on Radio 2 and is the lead single from the Canadian singer/songwriter's forthcoming fifth album "Release The Stars" out May 15th 2007.

"Release The Stars" Track listing:

"Do I Disappoint You"

"Going to a Town"

"Tiergarten"

"Nobody's Off the Hook"

"Between My Legs"

"Rules & Regulations"

"I'm Not Ready to Love"

"Slideshow"

"Tulsa"

"Leaving For Paris"

"Sanssouci"

"Release the Stars"

The Executive producer on the album is Neil Tennant and it is regarded by critics that have heard it as his best album to date. It would many musical fans including Arcade Fire, David Bowie, Scissor Sisters, Marianne Faithful, Patti Smith, Antony & the Johnsons and Elton John who has described Rufus (in 2005) as "without doubt the most talented artist in the music industry with the initials RW today. If there is any justice he should be much more famous than he currently is..."

Do any of you own any of his previous album?

I own all four of Rufus' previous albums, I got into him when he was promoting his "Want One" album and quickly fell for the charms of his Classical Pop style of music (real Popera as opposed to the ghastly G4 or Il Divo).

And any single that contains the fantastic vocal talents of Martha Wainwright, Joan Wasser (Joan as Police Woman) & Joanna Newsom on backing vocals has to be a winner.

He's doing a couple of gigs over here supported by one of my favourite singers, Bailey Tzuke ... I'm so jealous of everyone seeing them both together!!!

(btw it was a pity that bjork was too scared to use Billy's vocals from old mastertapes on her last album as that would have been one hell of a recording!!!)

Anyone recommend any songs to download? I have none of his stuff, but I love the new one.

Rufus for Judy DVD

Rufus Wainwright is to release a live album and DVD of his Judy Garland shows in September. The shows at Hammersmith Apollo and New York Carnegie Hall saw him recreate Garland's concert from April 1961.

also if you live near Borders i think i've seen some of his old albums in there cheap, might actually cost less than downloading from iTunes (you could always do naughty illlegal stuff  but the BPI might catch you)

Thanks guys, will check that lot out

I downloaded some of Martha's tunes aswell, BMFA is pretty special.
