Finally some fresh news! :yahoo:

Bionic-club have had a nice chat with Stefan Olsdal last weekend and he has confirmed us the latest news published on the official site. After the long tour they have been doing for Meds, Placebo are still enjoying their holidays. Stefan is working in Hotel Persona's project enthusiastically, the album is already finished and they are now on negotations with different labels to release it. Even so Hotel Persona will give their first live shows in the next months. We will have more news and confirmations of dates within the following days. At the moment a new dj set for Hotel Persona will take place next December 29 at Moloko-Pop: C/ Ramón y Cajal. Fuensalida (Toledo).

Hotel Persona will be touring till Spring 2008, when Placebo will be back to the studio for the recording of their new album. The boys already have some new songs to work with. In that moment the band will have too to choose a new drumer to work with in studio and live. There won't be any solo album by Brian Molko, the songs he is preparing will be for Placebo's new album.

From Placebo Myspace:

A message for you guys from Stefan:

Hey,

Stefan here saying hi to everyone. Just want to say I've got an album coming out in June with my side project Hotel Persona. This is something I've been doing in my free time from Placebo over the past couple of years with some friends in London. It's basically a collection of tracks we wrote for fun to play at parties, nothing to take too seriously! It's pop music with a dancefloor beat, and lyrics sometimes bordering on comedy. Kind of exploring the entertainment value of music and making something a little more light hearted than what I am used to, something people with a couple of drinks in them could understand and sing along to! Some of the tracks are a little more serious and some quite intimate and fragile, and we've also got a couple of guests to bring some flavour.

Placebo is currently writing the next record and will record it this year, so Placebo fans shouldn't be worried that this project is taking away from that.

Hope you can have some fun with it like we did!!

Stefan

People are talking that they started with recording the new album in Belgium, someones mention Canada also...

Should we expect it for spring 2009?

I hope for this year, but at least we know we're getting it eventually and they're working on it.

I'll be interested to check out the Hotel Persona project in the meantime.

After some reading on other forums, I hope for this year also. That's my right, to hope. ^_^

About HP, I listened only Modern Kids, song where Brian sings. And I like it.

PLACEBO - THE RETURN!

Placebo are back in the studio working on a new album! The band finished their last touring campaign in September of last year in the USA (on the Projekt Revolution tour with Linkin Park and My Chemical Romance). Since then the band have taken some much needed time out and over the past couple of months have been hard at work writing and demoing new material in London. The boys are now recording with producer David Bottrill (the man behind Tool’s ‘Aenima’, ‘Salival’ and ‘Lateralus’ albums, Silverchair’s ‘Diorama’ and dEUS ‘The Ideal Crash’). Engineering the album is James Brown who worked with the band on ‘Meds’.

...And on the drums with Placebo...?????!!!!! Introducing... Mr Steve Forrest! Hailing from Modesto, California, he was previously the drummer with American rock band, ‘Evaline’. Some of you may have spotted Steve playing with Evaline supporting Placebo on their US tour in October '06.

Ok, here's my opinion...

He's only 22. When I first read this all, I was happy because they finally have a drummer, but now I have mixed feelings.

Firstly, he have so much tattoos and looks so punk, which both Placebo never were. He's so not Placebo style at all, and I don't know how he'll fit into group.

Then, I think maybe they choose that young guy, so they can tell him always what to do, and he'll must listen, as he's much younger and new...

Good thing, they keep telling some stuff about new album and I can't wait for it.

So I guess it's goodbye Steve and hello Steve...

I haven't seen a picture of this guy yet, but if he's young and covered in tattoos he's going to look so odd. :(

That's good about the album though. :o With Meds they started work on it in August 2005 and it was released in March 2006. If they've been working on it for two months, that could possibly mean... January. :o :D

Hmmm, he's nice looking and all but will look totally odd in the band.

Also after giving it some though, he's a significant age difference to the others and he was 11 years old when they broke onto the scene with their big hits.

I guess I'll trust that Brian and Stefan know what they're doing, and at least we still have both of them.

  • Author

Yes, that's what makes me to believe, I hope Brian and Stef know what they're doing.

And I totally agree, he'll look odd in Placebo.

Also, if we look just age, you could be also a Placebo member Aly!

If they ever need a new lead singer I'll apply. Then I'll just get one of my friends to replace Stefan and there we have it, Placebo re-vamped. :o

My opinion:

Finallllllllllllllllyyyyy something new, it's so great to see new pictures.

I don't like the fact Brian have long hair now. He looks much better with short, like in Meds era. I hope he'll cut it before new album.

Steffie looks great.

Steve, well, I'm still not used to see him with Placebo, yet.

Ooooh, this is interesting. :o Brian isn't as 'good looking' with the longer hair but I do like it, it also suits him in a way. Stefan does look hot as ever, the drummer is cute but still looks odd in the line-up. I hope he can fit in well with the band when the time comes.

Cannot wait for the album, I just want them back already.
