"Papito" which reworks Bose's old hits, came out last month in Spain and the Americas. It shot to No. 6 on Billboard's Top Latin Albums chart, and topped the charts in Spain and Mexico. Warner Music Spain executive Adriana Gonzalez says Bose travelled 50,000 miles while recording "Papito" in four countries with partners including Shakira , Ricky Martin , Laura Pausini and Alejandro Sanz . Stipe partnered on the tune "Lo que hay es lo que ves." In Spain Bose is regularly compared to David Bowie -- albeit more because of a sexually ambiguous image than because of any shared musical style. He begins a Spanish tour May 5, running through September. Latin American and U.S. dates will follow in October. SOURCE
April 18, 200718 yr Author Miguel Bosé, Lover and Bandit The Spanish singer/songwriter Miguel Bosé revisited his greatest hits to mark his 30th anniversary with his colleagues, and pointed out that the only song he reserved for himself was “Amante bandido,” “in case someone wants to do it and it costs me their friendship,” he said about the song he sang alongside Alaska. On the album Papito, Bosé sings “Morena mía” with Julieta Venegas, “Si tú no vuelves” with Shakira, “Bambú” with Ricky Martin, “Nada particular” with Juanes, and “Nena” with Paulina Rubio, among another ten duets, and the result was a totally, new, refreshing, and modern sound. “The collaboration of artists has made each song grow,” said Miguel Bosé about these songs, which have remained popular not by chance but because “they are very solid songs.” “The songs, mine or other artists’, remain, and when you retrieve them you can do whatever you want with them… a great song is very generous.” He went on to say that his artist friends chose the song they wanted to record and none was assigned, except “Amante bandido:” “The only song I reserved for myself was “Amante bandido,” “in case someone wants to do it and it costs me their friendship.” “In modern day Spain and postmodernism there were two icons, Alaska and myself, and in the background, “Bandido.” “I can picture anyone singing it, but it was her,” said the legendary performer. source
