Okay, Sonique's latest album was called On Kosmo and absolutely flopped in the UK when it was finally released last November. I dont know the chart position but it wasnt top 75, doubt it was top 200 as it had absolutely no promo whatsoever. Literally none - her website hasnt even got any details of the album on. But lead single 'Why' is absolutely AMAZING :o:

The video is brilliant too, with actual promo this song couldve been huge in the UK!

Ive still to pick up the album but will do, 'Sleezy' is also very good.

I always found her success in 2000 surprising tbh, I was never a big fan of any of her singles and Reach should have been No.1 over It feels so good

Sonique is a dance DJ ;) She'd belong in the commercial section, as she's chart friendly, but you're excused ;)

 

The song is ok, much prefer her stuff from her first 2 albums though.

Im not so keen on the singles from Hear My Cry. I think though theyre v.good, especially Sky, they sound a bit dated now and are a bit too trancey...I love Alive (from Born To Be Free) and Another World, Why and Sleezy, all from On Kosmo...theyre a bit rockier or more elctronic which suits her voice much more...

And she actually looks womanly these days! :lol:

Trancey? From her debut? They're nothing like trance. Just plain dance with some breakbeats thrown in. Singles wise, she never topped that album imo.

I emailed her label a few days back, they replied today; there are apparently no single releases planned for 2007. On Kosmo didnt chart in the UK or Germany, and Why or Another World didnt chart anywhere other than Germany. Looks like theyve well and truly screwed up her career!

It only charted in Germany cos it was only released in Germany ;) It would flop in the UK though anyway

Ive been thinking (always dangerous lol) and since all of the On Kosmo singles are on itunes UK, do you think it'd be feasible to do a download day here on Buzzjack? We could choose the song (Sleezy is the 8th most popular sonique track on itunes, but i think we could win more people over with Why, and that has a video too), make a topic in chart chat and the here in the pop forum so everyone knows about it...If say 1000 people from here, and a couple of the other forums im on downloaded the song for only 79p, it could chart in the top 100, or close...
