Jamelia has split from her record label Parlophone after nearly a decade, the company has confirmed.

A spokesman said: "After working together for nearly 10 years, Jamelia and Parlophone Records have made the amicable decision to part company. The label is proud to have worked with Jamelia on some truly great records and wishes her all the best for the future."

British singer Jamelia is set to dump her record label of ten years after being disappointed with their handling of her last album - according to media reports. The popstar has been with record giants EMI since she was sixteen but reports suggests she won't be re-signing after her ten year deal comes to an end today.

A source tells British newspaper the Daily Star, "Jamelia wasn't happy with her last album.

"Although it got loads of great reviews it didn't sell as much as her previous releases and it was disheartening for her because she was promoting songs she didn't believe in.

"She didn't like her last single, No More, and felt the album (Walk With Me) was rushed."

British R&B singer Jamelia has severed ties with EMI label Parlophone, her record label for the best part of a decade. In a conversation with Billboard.com, the Birmingham-born artist declined to discuss the subject, but refuted a press report that stated that her long-term contract expired today (April 23).

"It's not true that my record deal with EMI finishes today," she told Billboard.com. "I'm not really allowed to speak about it because I'm still under contract with EMI." But, later in the day, her record company confirmed the split.

A multiple MOBO Award winner, Jamelia has enjoyed a string of top 40 entries on the Official U.K. Charts Co.'s singles chart since the release of her 2000 debut album, "Drama."

In 2004, her second album "Thank You" produced three U.K. top 5 hits -- "Superstar" (No. 3), "Thank You" (No. 2) and her co-write with Coldplay's Chris Martin, "See It in a Boy's Eyes" (No. 5).

Her latest project, "Walk With Me," which was released on Sept. 25, 2006, scored U.K. top 10s with the first two tracks, "Something about You" and "Beware of the Dog" which samples extensively from Depeche Mode's "Personal Jesus."

Regardless of her current label situation, Jamelia is confident a fourth solo album will be ready "hopefully toward the end of the year." She adds, "There are so many artists that I would love to work with and are in the process of hopefully set up collaborations with, and vice versa."

Thanks to whoever it was who pasted all that on Jamelias official forum ^_^

Is this a good idea do you think -_- ??

I just hope another label will want her :(

Good idea, Parlophone really seem to want to see their artists flop! Hope we do get more material soon, though I wouldve liked to see Know My Name released.
If she really did 'leave' Parlo, it would have only been because they were about to drop her. I can't begin to fathom how much money Parlo have lost on both All Saints and Jamelia's albums recently. :( They should consider themselves lucky they have Kylie on board to bring back the profits this year. :cheer:
Lol, knowing them they will probs underpromote her new album so they can drop her <_<
parlophone done so so well with kylie and they worked well for each other why they cudnt try harder with jamelia is beyond me and the thank you album showed the potential jamelia has they really should have done more,i dont doubt that jamelia will be back and bigger than ever also

I could have understood this if Jamelia's album was mediocre. But as it was really good they messed things up.

The bottom line is that they made a huge mistake promoting her 3rd album as a Pop album when it is a modern R'n'B album. By doing that they alienated a lot of her core fanbase.

Gutting.

This was by far the best Jamelia album and like other people are saying.. i hope someone else picks her up with another record deal and we do get another album by the end of the year.

If she went along the lines of Mary J Blige's style that would be good as she really likes her and looks upto her
