This year it will be 25 years since a winning song topped the UK chart.

It was last done by Germany's only winner in 1982 when the contest was in Harrogate because Buck's Fizz won in 1981

That winning song fom 1982 was Ein Bisschen Frieden (A Little Peace) by 16 year old Nicole (Hohloch).

In the rest of Europe it was a hit in German but in the UK it was in English.

Listen to the original German version HERE

If you wish to hear any of the winning songs from 1956 to 2006 you can hear them HERE

Hmm Lordi got to mid-20's didn't it and that was the best performance of the winner for a long time...

The only chance the winner has of success is to quickly get it on iTunes and capitalise on people's memories of the performance...downloads pushed Daz into the top 10 after last year's contest...

If Scooch somehow managed to win this year I'd be fairly confident of it hitting the #1 spot. Same with Daz last year.
Yep if the UK win in the next ten years the song is highly likely to be a No.1 single

Katrina won for UK and was #3.

BTW, Germany 1982 is one of my all-time ESC faves and Ralph Siegel's masterpiece.

That was very good for Katrina too...it had no airplay, minimal video play and it sounded like a church song. Hardly what the UK public were buying in 1997, the year that teeny-pop sky rocketed
