December 19, 200915 yr I'd rather listen to Depeche Mode - Songs of Faith and Devotion if I want this sort of thing. Which was actually inspired by NIN, Nitzer Ebb, and the like anyway mate..... As was "Ultra".... Do you think it was mere coincidence that in 1989, NIN came out with "PHM" and then all of a sudden Depeche Mode decided to shift away from their poppier roots and do three much "darker" albums..... at least Severin acknowledges the massive impact that NIN have had on the face of music.... I think people who slag them off have never seen the band live... If you guys had been at the 02 earlier this year, you'd've had to conceed that you'd seen the gig of the year..... They played a blinder... NO BAND I have seen this year, or really in the past two or three years, has put on a better show than NIN.... Not even Depeche Mode on Wednesday night, who, frankly sounded a bit tired..... And Marilyn Manson was just utterly fukkin' WEAK...... A bit like his new album actually.....
December 19, 200915 yr I agree that Depeche Mode had been listening to a lot of Nitzer Ebbs early stuff by the 90s. I'm particularly thinking of stuff like the Belief and Showtime albums. Lightning Man especially. And it's clearly the reason they toured the USA together. NE are particularly underrated I feel. Also as regards to Manson. Saw him on the 10th at Brixton and he was weak I agree. Although he was actually better than when I last dsaw him live, which admittedly isn't saying much

Although he was actually better than when I last dsaw him live, which admittedly isn't saying much I saw Manson in '96, '99, '01 and '04 (which is when I first noticed MM getting so tired..), so, you'll forgive me if I thought the show on the 10th was pretty shockingly p!ss poor.....LOL... I wished I'd gone to see Placebo instead.....
December 19, 200915 yr Oh I can absolutely see why you'd say that. It's exactly what i said last time, which was back in 04. Think I was just pleased to see Twiggy back in the fold, but the best i could say was that it was an improvement. Wasn't impressed with Placebo when I saw them back in 2000.

I have been gig going since I was 13, so since 2005, I have only seen NIN twice, I have also seen the likes of RATM, Metallica, Faith No More, QOTSA, Tenacious D, NIN at o2 easily the best i have seen, the only people who have come near is RATM.
