Nominate the Scots star you believe has the most inspirational dress scnce By Donna Watson FROM the rock glamour of our female music stars to the suave and sophisticated cool of a certain grey-haired 75-year-old, Scots have always cut a dash on the style scene. And now, the Daily Record wants your help to name Scotland's greatest and most inspirational fashion icon. The winner will be announced at the first ever Scottish Fashion Awards, which will honour the leading lights of our style and design industries. The glittering awards ceremony will be held at Stirling Castle on May 7 and will b e hosted by TV presenter Jenni Falconer. As well as surprise celebrity guests, the judges and presenters will be from some of the world's most influential fashion houses and publications. They will include the editor of British Vogue, Alexandra Shulman, and New York entrepreneur and fashion leader Amy Sacco. Other judges will be the vice chairman of IMG Models - the world's leading model agency - Alastair Johnston, and Jennifer Uner, who founded the Los Angeles Fashion Awards. The categories will be Designer of the Year, Textile/Cashmere Designer of the Year, Young Designer/New Talent, Retailer of the Year, Model of the Year, Fashion Communication Award and International Designer of the Year. There will also be two special awards for entry into the new Scottish Fashion Awards Hall of Fame. DARIUS DANESH THE Pop Stars reject, now 25, stunned the country with his striking makeover for Pop Idol. The nation cringed when Darius first appeared on telly with a dodgy goatee and ponytail. But the following year he reappeared with a clean cut look and Rat Pack-style suits. His legions of fans swooned further when he wore a kilt. We want to hear who you think is a Scottish style icon. April 19, 200619 yr This is my nomination speech Dear all at the Record Scottish Style Icon Vote .... Nominations Required There is just one person to vote for DARIUS DANESH!! Darius has been instrumental in bringing kilt wearing into the 21st Century. He has the body (oh yes!!) to wear one with style and the attitude to take Scottish National Dress away from the twee-ness of Brigadoon and The White Heather Club. The kilt has returned it to where it belongs, true to the spirit of William Wallace as a symbol of what it means to be male and Scottish. Bold, self aware, unafraid and confident. Darius has all four of those qualities in abundance and when added to his looks, his charm, his love of Scotland and above all his musical and performing talents, there is no one else of his generation to touch him. He is symbol of the new age of Scottish Male Style, even when not in the kilt. He carries off the grungy look well and is just astonishingly sophisticated in the Rat Pack style and in formal attire as he wore in the West End in Chicago as Billy Flynn But his best style .... white Rob Roy shirt, black leather kilt, DM boots or "Porage Oats Man" Campbell Kilt and white vest ...
