Posted May 1, 200718 yr Something that I never ever thought I would hear myself say, but now that Grindhouse is to be split up into two films then I feel that I have no alternative... We are being ripped off here, we are being forced to see these films as seperate entities merely because the film has tanked at the US box office and the Weinstein's want to make their money... For the past MONTH or so "Grindhouse" has been advertised in UK cinemas as a DOUBLE FEATURE, now the distributors are reneging on the deal... Is this not the very definition of FALSE ADVERTISING???? Thinking you're getting one thing and then actually being delivered something else... The whole idea of the "Grindhouse" is that it is a homage to the flea-pit cinemas that would play back-to-back and all-night shows, usually showing tacky exploitation film such as "I Spit On Your Grave", "New York Ripper", "Cannibal Holocaust", etc.. Splitting these films us not only completely destroys the effect, it also calls into question the integrity and sincerity of Tarantino and Rodriguez as film-makers... There is also talk that we wont even be getting the fake trailers either.... I am utterly incenced by this, as I think all Cinema-goers should be, we are being ripped-off here... American audiences have seen these films as they were intended to be seen, we are being denied this right and we as Cinemagoers should boycott this film... I take absolutely no pleasure in doing this, I have long been a cheerleader for Tarantino and Rodriguez and have loved their work... I wrote an article in a College magazine in the early 90s proclaiming Tarantino as being the saviour of American cinema after seeing "Reservoir Dogs", so for me to be saying what I'm saying now just breaks my heart... But the facts are neither Tarantino nor Rodriguez are speaking out against this move, and they are big players still and could really cause some serious sh!t if they wanted to... They could refuse to have anything to do with the UK marketing, take their names off the films and force Momentum into a corner.. They are not doing this, and I am so angry about it... If you really want to see "Grindhouse" I would suggest downloading it off a Torrent site... Encouraging Piracy...?? Abso-fukkin'-lutely.. The distributors have no one to blame but themselves if now people in UK start to illegally download "Grindhouse" in great numbers and avoid seeing this at the Cinema... And I think that's exactly what should happen, we should send a message to these greedy Hollywood b/astards that we will not tolerate being pissed on... So, download away guys, burn discs, distribute to friends free of charge, urge your friends NOT to go to the cinema to see "Death Proof" when it does eventually hit these shores in sodding SEPTEMBER.... Make this film fail utterly at the UK box office..... Send a message to Tarantino, Rodriguez and the Weinsteins..... "FUKK YOU!!!!!"
May 1, 200718 yr On IMDB it says it won't even get a DVD release in the USA, so I thought they'd make it straight to DVD here, but tbh mate I don't think many people will be going to watch them anyways :D Tarantino Grinding Out New Version of Horror Flick Grindhouse, the Robert Rodriguez-Quentin Tarantino homage to the horror films of the 1960's and '70s faces the prospect of a DVD release only in Britain, following its box-office failure in the U.S., the London Independent on Sunday reported. The newspaper said that the film is also being axed in other countries. "All is not yet lost, though," the newspaper observed, noting that Tarantino is cutting his half of the movie, Death Proof, and submitting it in competition at the Cannes Film Festival, which opens in two weeks. When I go to the cinema I try to see a couple of films (sometimes even three) as i'm skint, so i gotta get value out of my cinema pass and trainfare. I dont understand this thing where people dont wanna see two films for the price of one (even with 4 hr Bollywood films!!!). Surely everybody (seeing as all the DVD/CD sales in shops/online are focused on price/sales) would wanna get 2 for 1??? or are American just weird and cant sit thru 3hs (suppose they could go for a dump/wander/snack up when the Roth/Zombie trailers are on middle). Seems to be a theatre conspiracy going on here
May 1, 200718 yr Author no i love Tarantino!! he brings out good actors such as the lush Rose McGowan  Well, I loved him once too (which is why the betrayal feels so acute...), and the 'lushness' of Rose McGowan doesn't enter into it.... The facts are he and his distributors are RIPPING US OFF by making us pay to see these films seperately..... If that doesn't p*** you off even the slightest bit mate, well, no offence, but you're a bit gullible.....

Seems to be a theatre conspiracy going on here American Cinema-Goers are just idiots mate, simple as.... There were actually reports that at some performances people actually got up and left the sodding Cinema after "Planet Terror", thinking the show was over    So, basically, because Americans are stupid and don't even understand the concept of "Double Features" (even though it was American production companies in the 30s and 40s who actually came up with the concept...), we in this country, who actually do, are gonna get shafted..... <_<
May 2, 200718 yr Tarantino has already seriously tarnished his reputation with his involvement in cheap and nasty c**p like Hostel..... and, whilst I agree he's made some jaw-droppingly wonderful movies, he's also made some absolute, total stinkers. To rip off cinema-goers like this is appalling.... the price of seeing a movie in the UK is astronomical as it is, and I do, I freely admit, download stuff I think I 'may' like, just because if I paid to see all the films I 'may' like - I'd be bankrupt. It's little wonder there's so much downloading and general apathy about the cinema these days when it's so bloody expensive. For the price of seeing a movie, you can see a play in the theatre (OK, not a big budget one, but a reasonable, well acted and produced one in a more 'arthouse' venue).... so that's what I tend to do more of these days. Tarantino needs to make a very grovelling statement about this - and sharpish.

So, basically, because Americans are stupid and don't even understand the concept of "Double Features" however would all the chavs in the leisure parks get the idea as well or will it be just people like you who've done a lot of film studies and people like me with subs to dvd world/been on the sazuma website
