May 2, 200718 yr WOW. :o Good for Maroon 5. Is this gonna be the first no.1 for them? :cheer: And Never Again. :( Not that good for it.
May 2, 200718 yr haha. Kelly 'dull as hell' Clarkson is gonna FLOP! :cheer: Isn't #4 a good debut? As for Maroon 5 I'm really pleased for them! :D I love the song, but I had a feeling it wouldn't do hugely well anywhere.
May 2, 200718 yr A #04 debut for an artist who's last album was one of the biggest of the decade so far and that shifted in excess of 6,000,000 copies in the US IS worrying. She's one of the biggest music artists in America and one would have expected sales nearer that of Maroon 5's for a lead single. Even pop radio isn't feeling it massively. It wasn't the best choice for lead single really at all, but of course we don't know the overall quality of the album yet...
May 2, 200718 yr Maroon 5's song is OK but I haven't warmed to it enough to make it top 10 on my chart. :smoke: Poor Clarkson - tis early days yet - Avril only debuted at 3ish though didn't she?
May 2, 200718 yr Yep that is true but Avril's last era was hardly MASSIVE in the US [the sophomore slump and all that..] so her debut sales were rather excellent. Compared to Kelly who was inescapable not too long ago and has become the US' premier female singer, it IS quite disappointing. Also of note is that Avril had no pop radio support when her downloads charted first week. Kelly's got 30 million of them, disappointing for her most deffo...
May 2, 200718 yr Ah OK. As I say over + over again, I don't follow the US Charts that avidly so thanks for clearing that up Jaykey. ^_^ It's not an excellent comeback for Kelly - I was expecting much better for some reason but I do quite like the song now and won't pass judgement on whether she's failed or not until I hear more from the album.
May 2, 200718 yr Well considering it was between "Never Again" and "One Minute" for lead single I'd be worried if I were a Kelly fan. "One Minute" will undoubtedly end up being 2nd single and well its poo [as some others can tell you I'm sure..] No problem Grami :D

It wasn't the best choice for lead single really at all, but of course we don't know the overall quality of the album yet... Exactly, the same thing I thought. When her song (and album) has been one of the most anticipated of the year, I'm confused on why the public isn't warming up to it. -_- Hopefully, it won't hurt the sales of the album, but I do remember that Breakaway wasn't that big of a hit, and it was up to SUBG and BTHE to support the album more, so who knows. :arrr:
May 2, 200718 yr "Breakaway" was never supposed to be the lead from the album, it was a taster track come movie soundtrack lead for "Princess diaries II". SUBG and BTHE were what were chosen to lead the album in the proper sense...
May 2, 200718 yr Actually Maroon 5 had a huge advantage over kelly Clarkson this week, Their song has been released already several weeks ago to radio airplay while Kelly was just released only a week before the release of the download so it was expected that Maroon 5 would easily outsell it. How big of a hit Kelly's new song will be depends pretty much how it will end up doing airplay-wise. So far it has done well on both pop top 40 and adult top 40 but it is too early to say how it will end up since if it is going to be a big hit it will take several months until it will reach its' peak. Kelly will probably debut around 7th or 8th this week and could easily make it into top five next week. I'd say that the most impressive sales of the week were Carrie Underwood's AI Gives Back performance's sales. It wasn't released as a download until mid-week and next week it should surge up since it will have its first whole week of sales. Since it has pretty much zero airplay it will end up this week in the lower end of top ten but next week it has IMO a good chance making it into top three if its' sales will hold the rest of the week.
May 2, 200718 yr How long has Never Again been on the radio though? last week was the first week it was available for downloads right? not to mention the video only just made its world premier on TRL yesterday and today it was #10. Give it a chance before you go writing it off as a flop. P.S. Where is Nelly's All Good Things??? are they even trying to promote it? the video is gone from the TRL countdown, and i've only heard it on a radio station once. Edited May 2, 200718 yr by Propilot87

Give it a chance before you go writing it off as a flop. We're not saying it's a flop. Rather, we're stating that coming from such a huge album Breakaway was, and then seeing the figures Never Again sold, it's quite surprising since most of us thought it would sell loads, since she's one of the most anticipated albums of the year. It's probably not gonna be a total flop, but will most likely reach a peak (maybe next week or in two weeks, when airplay takes off) and then slide down like ice.
May 2, 200718 yr maybe the fact that on her AI performance she wore a moomoo that made her already plump self look gigantic didn't help matters :(
