Posted May 2, 200718 yr Britney back for first gig in 3 years Britney Spears made a triumphant comeback last night, playing her first gig in three years. The pop princess took to the stage at the House of Blues in San Diego for just 16 minutes but after she had belted out five of her classic tunes, fans were left shouting for more. Spears' return to the stage marks a major turnaround for the star, whose professional hiatus was marked by a very public meltdown. http://img.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2007/04_03/SpearsFoursLL_SPL_468x492.jpg Just 10 weeks ago, Spears shaved her head and allegedly attacked a paparazzi vehicle with an umbrella. She then checked into Promises rehab clinic in LA for a month of treatment. Since leaving the facility, Spears has focused on returning to her former glory, taking regular dance classes and transforming her body to its current toned form. As word of her secret gig spread, eager fans snapped up all of the tickets, which were changing hands for up to £100 each - that's £6.25 a minute! http://img.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2007/04_03/britney3RETNA0205_468x550.jpg http://img.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2007/04_03/SpearsGroupLL_SPL_468x427.jpg Queues started forming around the block from early afternoon as Spears made her way from Los Angeles in a new tour bus. The mother of two, 25, took to the stage at 10pm in a brunette wig, sparkling bustier, fur coat, white skirt and boots. She kicked off the set with Hit Me Baby One More Time, followed by I'm A Slave For You, Breathe On Me, Do Something and Toxic. One fan said: “She was absolutely fantastic. You would never know she had been away.” Spears seemed to have put her troubles behind her as she beamed at the crowd and said: “Thanks everyone for coming.” In another brave move, the star created her own comeback dance routines after reportedly having a bust-up with her choreographer Brian Friedman - one of the judges on ITV reality show Grease Is The Word. And judging from the crowd's reaction last night, she has pulled it out of the bag. http://img.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2007/04_03/britneyGOFF0205_468x304.jpg SOURCE
May 2, 200718 yr Author Britney Spears returns to the stage after 3 years http://fametastic.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2007/05/britney_spears_131.jpg Britney Spears made her first stage appearance in nearly three years last night at the San Diego House of Blues. Rumours started circulating last week that Britney was to take to the stage under the name “The M&Ms” and reports claim that the $35 tickets for the 1000 capacity venue were changing hands for between $200-$500 by early yesterday evening in anticipation of Britney’s performance. Britney appeared on stage shortly after 10pm and performed for just over 15 minutes, singing five of her old songs including her first hit ‘Baby One More Time’ and ‘Toxic’ from 2003. She is said to have choreographed the set herself, including routines for her back-up dancers and incorporating light and smoke effects. Showing off her newly toned body, Britney wore a short pleated white skirt, white boots and a sparkling top that was little more than a bra for most of the set but swapped the skirt for a denim one at one point and also wore a white furry bolero for her entrance at the start of the set. Some audience members have complained that she barely addressed the crowd and that she was miming for most, if not all, the set but most were just glad to see Britney back on stage rather than just in the tabloids. One fan told Los Angeles TV station KNBC: “I think she worked the stage, her body looked great. So it was good to see her finally come back and prove us all wrong.” Another fan is quoted in the Daily Mail as saying: “She was absolutely fantastic. You would never know she had been away.” “The M&Ms” are set to perform at more House of Blues venues - in Anaheim and on Sunset Strip in Los Angeles - today and tomorrow respectively but an inside source told People magazine that these shows are just the beginning: “It’s kind of warming up. That’s probably the best way to describe it.” The owner of the Millennium Dance Studios - where Britney has been seen regularly rehearsing since leaving rehab in March - added that Britney has definitely got some new material in the works: “They’ll be in the style we are all used to, the pop thing. But she’s got bigger plans brewing, with music and dancing that’s a break from her old stuff. She’s really excited about that.”

May 3, 200718 yr I've seen quite a lot of negative reviews for this... she mimed the entire set, was only on stage for a little over 20 minutes and refused to sign autographs for fans. Not entirely sure how true the above is, i'm thrilled she's getting back into the "groove" so to speak, but I think i'll wait to hear a new single before I get too excited. :(
May 3, 200718 yr Author Not entirely sure how true the above is Everything is true... the thing is, I personally think we should give her a break, it's been 3 years since she performed and I'm sure she was trying to get more confident on stage, and that's what these mini-gigs are probably for. I also think she's trying to test her public in general, she wants to see people's reaction, I'm sure that when she gets more confident, she'll pull an amazing show and we'll all be very happy. I'm still ecstatic about this performance, I think it's a great way to show us she's not gone from the music business and just like you, I want to hear new songs from her.
May 3, 200718 yr Theres videos of Toxic performance now on Youtube! I would add but Im going off right now sorry!

She said thank you to her fans and has done alot in the past year...That is more then enough for me -_-
May 3, 200718 yr Author Britney's Comeback Rolls on with Second Show By Reagan Alexander http://img2.timeinc.net/people/i/2007/news/070514/britney_spears2.jpg Spears at the House of Blues in San Diego Photo by: Darren Banks / Splash News Before a raucous crowd that chanted her name, Britney Spears continued her comeback mini-tour Wednesday night, performing the same lip-synched routine of older hits from her show the night before. The 12-minute set at the Anaheim, Calif., House of Blues followed her return to the stage Tuesday night at the House of Blues in San Diego after a nearly three-year absence from live performing. Security was tighter in Anaheim – it took the crowd nearly two hours to get through the metal detectors – with guards seizing cell phones in an apparent reaction to the flood of pictures and videos of the San Diego show on the Internet. At 9:30 p.m., after the vast majority of the crowd had made it past security, the chants of "Britney! Britney!" started, with one girl exhorting the crowd with shouts of, "She's got to feel the love!" A few minutes later, the lights dimmed on the stage, empty save for a single white chair. The crowd exploded into screams and applause as the four backup dancers appeared, two on each side, snaking their way across the stage. As the first strains of "... Baby One More Time" became recognizable, Spears emerged in a brown wig, white go-go boots, a white mini-skirt and a sparkling pink bikini top. Like the San Diego show, the set was a short medley of Spears's hits, with "I'm a Slave 4 U" following "Hit Me" and the crowd showering the pop star with shouts of approval each time she wiggled her hips. (Notably, she was also able to chew gum while performing.) The lights dimmed after the second song, going a soft red, with the back-up dancers exiting the stage and leaving Britney alone to strut slowly to the lone chair as "Breathe On Me" started. The crowd roared as she seductively gyrated on the chair before her dancers returned and pulled a male fan from the audience to be serenaded by Spears. A brief interlude allowed Spears to change into a tiny denim skirt, a plain pink bra and a short, white fur coat. Her "Do Something" routine included some air guitar, a lot of the hands-on-hips hip thrusts and a brief homage to the running man dance move. Spears dropped her fur coat to the floor for the final song, "Toxic," and smiled as she mouthed the words. The crowd once again roared its approval when she and her dancers dropped to all fours and crawled in formation down the stage. Spears then popped up to her knees and posed with her dancers around her as the song and the lights came to a simultaneous and abrupt end. As the lights came back up and the crowd showered her with adoration, she blew kisses with both hands and said, "Thank you so much. These are my dancers," before skipping offstage, leaving her four backups to soak up the applause. Audience members gave the show positive reviews overall – one female fan told PEOPLE of the set: "It was short, it was good. She looked good, she did her thing." But Kelly Weston of Orange County said, "She was a little off, a little slower than her dancers. If I hadn't heard about last night I would probably be disappointed." Still, her fans were in the house to support Spears: One group of young women wore matching pink tank tops reading "Bald Ambition" on the front and "The Comeback 2007" on the back. Spears's last major performance was in June 2004 during her Onyx Hotel Tour in Dublin, Ireland, which was cut short when she injured her knee. She is planning several more performances this week, including shows at the Los Angeles House of Blues on Thursday and the House of Blues Las Vegas inside Mandalay Bay on Sunday.
