Arctic Monkeys crack US Top 10

The Arctic Monkeys have broken into the US Top 10 for the first time after crashing in at number seven on the Billboard 200 with their second album Favourite Worst Nightmare.

The album last week SoundScanned 44,000 units on its way to a Top 10 debut, a notable chart improvement on their first album Whatever People Say I Am That’s What I’m Not, which debuted and peaked at 24 on the same countdown last March with nearly 34,000 sales.

It is also the first Top 10 US success for UK independent Domino. While its act Franz Ferdinand’s second album reached number eight on the Billboard 200 in 2005 with You Could Have It So Much Better, that was released in the States on Epic, while the Arctic Monkeys album has been issued there directly by Domino.

The Arctic Monkeys are just the latest UK success story this year so far on the Billboard chart with EMI’s Corinne Bailey Rae and Joss Stone and Universal signing Amy Winehouse all having made the US Top 10 for the first time.

The Domino act are presently several days into a North American tour, which continues tonight at the Roseland Theatre in Portland, Oregon, and will conclude on May 20 at Hard Rock Live in Orlando, Florida.

I was looking for where WPSIANWIN peaked in the US. Nice to see it's beaten it's peak and have increased first week sales! :D I hope it can maintain a bit of a chart run, but well, I don't hold too much hope. :(
m2.. but its still an achievement

Is a great achivement. :D Not many bands nowadays manage to crack America in the slightest after some success in the UK.
