Posted May 4, 200718 yr Kelly Clarkson has reportedly scrapped her new album after label bosses weren't impressed with the record. The American Idol alum suffered a scathing attack from Sony BMG chief Clive Davis after he heard the new tracks, reports British newspaper the Daily Star. A source at the record company tells the paper, "It was an extraordinary presentation. Clive was absolutely merciless in his criticism of Kelly. She's one of the biggest priorities on the label and her new songs were savaged." We're not sure if the album is scrapped totally but Clarkson herself has spoken out publicly about her labels dislike of her new album. She produced and wrote the entire album herself, with her touring band.
May 4, 200718 yr Source? I have a feeling this is fake to be honest. There's a lot of negativity towards Kelly at the moment and I just thinks its all a load of bull.
May 4, 200718 yr It can't be true, it's so close now and the lead single is in full swing, it'll be too late to scrap it now.
May 4, 200718 yr Yea my friend told me this today, and i was like it cant be true? hope it isnt anyways, i mean 'Never Again' is not amazing but it is a really good song, good enough to carry on surely,
May 4, 200718 yr It can't be true, it's so close now and the lead single is in full swing, it'll be too late to scrap it now. Exactly. They would never have went ahead with the lead single if the album was dire. As Aly said, it's FAR too late to scrap it now, what would they do, release Never Again and then wait another year while she totally remakes the album? I don't think so. Fake rumour.
May 4, 200718 yr Doubt this will happen tbh. I think just because 'Breakaway' was so successful everyone is setting the bar far too high with the followup. I mean who actually does manage to produce a half decent followup to a massive selling album in terms of quality and sales?
May 4, 200718 yr :o dear god I hope this is all a lie. I found these btw: http://uk.news.yahoo.com/wenn/20070504/ten...um-c60bd6d.html http://www.contactmusic.com/news.nsf/artic...20album_1029971 http://music.moldova.org/stiri/eng/45794/
May 4, 200718 yr It wouldn't necessarily be too late to scrap it, it's due for release in September and that's a good four months away yet.
May 4, 200718 yr RCA SUPPORTS KELLY: Despite rumor-mongering from the U.K. Daily Star and other online sources, there is no dispute between Kelly Clarkson and the RCA Music Group. These rumors began after the SBMG International meetings in Las Vegas a couple of weeks back and were based on an inaccurate report about Clive Davis'' presentation of Kelly''s new LP at the confab. Sources who were there insist the chatter is not true. In fact, Davis specifically stated that Kelly is “one of the top four artists at Sony BMG” and wanted to ensure that she is treated as such. There are absolutely no plans to scrap the LP. Meanwhile, Richard Palmese''s promo team is working round the clock to deliver Kelly''s first single, “Never Again,” to trigger the release of what all are convinced is a chart-topping album. May 4, 200718 yr If sony BMG are saying she is in there top 4 that means they consider her HUGE :o... who are the other 3?? Shakira is with Epic... is that a branch of SONY? and they treat the top artists differently? why? lol
May 4, 200718 yr hmm ... she's touring from early July, plus at least about a month of rehersals/promo etc i guess before it, so that leaves her with about 1 month to make a new album  i don't believe it :P As for the top 4 ... Justin, Pink, Shakira, Evanescence, Christina, Beyonce all appear on the hopepage .. Edited May 5, 200718 yr by Andrewy
May 5, 200718 yr Christina is certainly one of them, considering that her first 2 albums both managed 10m+ worldwide. :D Oh and I MUCH prefer the credibility of Hits Daily Double to the Daily Star. :manson:
May 5, 200718 yr Well, kelly is one, i'd say shakira is because she sells a hell of a lot, also xtina and beyonce .. me thinks ... i wouldn't have thought kelly was one tbh
May 6, 200718 yr I highly doubt they would scrap the whole album, maybe add a couple of tracks that are a bit more commercial, but I highly doubt they would make us wait longer then September.
