Posted May 4, 200718 yr WESTLIFE want to thrill 80,000 fans at Croke Park next summer to celebrate their 10th anniversary. The pop stars are planning the monumental show to follow in the footsteps of U2, Robbie Williams and Garth Brooks by selling out the Dublin venue. Singer Shane Filan, 27, revealed: "We have been thinking about a great way to celebrate the 10th birthday and Croke Park would be perfect. Growing up it has always been a mysterious and historical stadium and we'd love to sell it out. "We have done Lansdowne Road and that was amazing but this would be the ultimate thrill. "There are talks at the minute to see if it's possible and we will be taking it from there. "Hopefully we can pack Croke Park next summer and it would be our finest hour." The stars completed a 12-night stint at the Point last night and will now take a two-month break before returning to the studios. Their latest tour has been one of their most popular with more than 200,000 fans attending the shows. Promoters believe they can turn Croker into an all-seater venue for the night. One top promoter said: "This would be Westlife's greatest night and the ultimate homecoming show. "We have no doubt the tickets would shift quickly and the lads would have a night to remember. "It will be a show packed with their greatest hits to celebrate 10 years at the top of the pop business."
May 5, 200718 yr I refuse to believe 200,000 people share char1s's love for westlife to see them live. If it was seeing them dead, maybe...
May 5, 200718 yr I refuse to believe 200,000 people share char1s's love for westlife to see them live. If it was seeing them dead, maybe... it will be less than half as the other half + will be people the fans dragged with them. So it would be less than 100,000 willing fans
May 6, 200718 yr They were in the paper the other day saying how the reason they have'nt played Croker is due to the fear of not selling out. How utterly pathetic they are. And unless they make Croker an all seater (which is highly unlikely and I doubt has ever happened before) then there is not a chance all those grannies and mums will attend. I sincerly hope they don't play. Croker is a legendary stadium and not a place for a load of cheesy ballads to be churned out. -_-
May 6, 200718 yr Wow, I'd so pay to see a bunch of rough looking middle aged men mime lame cover versions all through the set.
May 7, 200718 yr Westlife shows are great enough to play in this place. Afriad not Charis. Croke Park is a legendary venue, and has held some of the biggest rock concerts in Irish history. It's not a place that should be turned into an all seater for grannies.
May 8, 200718 yr And unless they make Croker an all seater LMAO      The only boyband who could fill in a venue like that is Take That, not Pestlife. :puke2: probably, if they released tickets like now, they would sell half of this amount in a year( ), otherwise , there's no chance this idea could work out for them. ^_^ Edited May 8, 200718 yr by locott
May 8, 200718 yr Author yeah yeah. they perform in front of 500.000 people every year and could fear selling out an 80.000 venue

October 3, 200816 yr I bet it was so amazing, a 2 hour concert of watching 4 men sat down on four stools. hahaha good one...the phone is ringing for you...its 1999 they want their joke back!! they acutally put on amazing concerts some of the best i have been too!! The 85,300 crowd that nite loved it, i have never been to anything like it was that nite before!! Amazing atmosphere! Westlife are the best!
October 9, 200816 yr First of all, there were less than 80,000 people ,that's for sure. Some blocks were actually empty, so Pestlife could not sell it out completely. Besides, the tickets for this gig were on sale FOR AGES. Big bands sell out stadia gigs in minutes like Take That, for instance. Westlife are not in the same league, sorry.
October 9, 200816 yr Take that are supposed to be playing this massive venus next year...PAH they could not sell this out!!! Not in Ireland anyway! Take That will do it within a few hours, trust me. They are the biggest european band at the moment after all. Besides, Take That's next tour will be all stadium. 5 nights at Wembley stadium, Croke Park, Derby football stadium -these are rumoured venues Take That are gonna play for their next tour.
