New Order split!?

Peter Hook claims this time it’s for real.

BBC 6MUSIC NEWS

04 May 07 - It looks like it could be the end for Manchester legends New Order.

You may feel like you’ve heard this one before, but bassist Peter Hook says that he and singer Bernard Sumner have gone their separate ways and are no longer working together.

It came out in an interview with Xfm’s Clint Boon; while talking about his collaboration with Jayne’s Addiction front man Perry Farrell, he said:

"I spoke to Perry, and he asked me to play bass, as he'd heard about New Order splitting up. Well yeah, me and Bernard aren't working together."

Peter Hook:The band has had some quite lengthy quiet spells over the years as its members have pursued side projects, but New Order have always remained a going concern.

When asked if the split was permanent, however, Hook replied: "Bernard went off for a break with Electronic, but that was different. But it's like the boy who cried wolf this time."

Earlier this year the band denied reports they were about to split up, after drummer Stephen Morris was quoted as saying: "We should stop for a while."

Are you upset by this news, or do you think the legendary Mancunian Band have had their day after over 25 years in the music industry?

dont know if you have been to this New Order  thread before mate, but this should actually read:

I've seen coming for a long while, they did break up once before, and 3 side projects came of it, Electronic Bernard Summer and Johnny Marr, another band called Revenge which Peter Hook formed and also The Other Two of Superhighways/Tasty Fish fame.

I think I read that the Electronic and Revenge side-projects happened around the same time with Monaco being formed from Revenge with Potts and Hooky towards the late 1990s.

Yes, Electronic, Revenge and The Other Two were all around at pretty much the same time. New Order reformed for Republic in 93 and after that Barney got back with Johnny for more Electronic, Hooky formed Monaco and The Other Two had a very unpopular follow up.
