Posted May 8, 200718 yr Prince back on stage Exclusive: 21-date tour announced BBC 6 MUSIC NEWS 08 May 07 - Prince held a press conference in Central London earlier today where he exclusively revealed details of a string of live dates in the UK. The elusive music legend hasn't played arena dates here in more than a decade. Today he announced that he will be performing 21 dates in London under the banner of 'The Purple Reign Tour'. His live band will include long-time collaborator, Sheila E. They kick off on 1 August at the O2 Arena in London. The venue will host seven on the gigs in all. The other dates will take place in a range of venues - including small clubs. The 21 gigs will be his only of 2007, and the last opportunity for fans to see him deliver his greatest hits live. He told the invitation-only audience why he was prepared to perform here for such an extensive period: "Last time I was here a lot of people didn't get to see me, so we're trying to make it affordable for everybody. I got used to this way of working in Las Vegas. As soon as I leave here, I'm going to go and look for a place to live (!)"Tickets have a flat-rate price of £31.21, and fans will receive his a free copy of his new album. As he departed, Prince issued an open invitation to Amy Winhouse to join him on the tour, and promised that the concerts will be 'spectacular'. Are any of you fans of "his Royal Purpleness"?
