(May 9, 2007) Australian singer Kylie Minogue told press on Tuesday that she was “delighted” with Chile, despite rumors that she was to leave the country early because of allegations of an affair with Chilean film producer Alexander Dahm.

The pop diva is currently staying with Dahm in a luxury condominium in Cachagua. The property, which is surrounded by guards, is valued at around US$1.5 million, with rental costs at around US$500 a night.

In her first direct encounter with local press during her stay in Chile, Minogue said that she was “absolutely delighted” with the country. She also cleared up rumors about the purpose of her visit.

“I’m here to work. Thank you very much,” said Minogue.

Dahm, who lives with his wife in Mexico, is in Chile to film a commercial for luxury Italian jewelry chain Bulgari. The filming will take place in a vineyard in Colchagua. While it was not previously clear whether the pair would be working together on the project, Dahm suggested on Tuesday that this may be true.

“We will be filming over the next few days, and we will let you know the details,” Dahm told press on Tuesday.

Argentine model Ernesto Orsetti, who has worked with Madonna and Robbie Williams, will feature in the commercial alongside Minogue.

Dahm was also quick to deny rumors that he and Minogue are romantically involved.

“The visit has been a bit complicated because of all the press, and it’s absolutely not true about any romance going on. None of it’s true,” he said.

According to local press, Minogue and Dahn spent the last few days visiting Pablo Neruda’s house at Isla Negra and the coastal resorts of Viña del Mar and Valparaiso. The pair continue to enjoy local cuisine, including several varieties of seafood, and pisco sours. One Valparaiso resident said Minogue’s fondness for seafood was nearly her downfall this week.

“Minogue was eating all these shrimps, but then she started choking,” said Pedro Alvear. “Nobody knew what to do, but then her friend hit her, and she coughed it up.”

On Monday, the pair lunched at a restaurant in Zapallar, but were disturbed when press photographers invaded the establishment. Several clients, annoyed at the commotion, attacked the photographers, and police were called to the scene. Nobody was hurt, but some arrests were made.

According to sources close to Minogue, the singer has not ruled out a visit to Santiago.

Kylie Minogue has, tonight denied having an affair with a married man - saying the “speculation” was “offensive”.

Minogue, 38, has been photographed in Chile with movie producer Alexander Dahm, whose wife is eight months pregnant.

The pop princess had been left heartbroken following her split with French actor Olivier Martinez back in February.

But tonight, Ms Minogue has come out and said: “I have never been unfaithful to a partner and would find it completely immoral to be involved with a married man.”

Kylie’s spokesman Murray Chalmers said Alexander Dahm, 39, was simply a good friend.

He said: “On her departure from Santiago, Chile, today, Kylie was shocked to see the over-reaction in the worldwide media to her spending time with a male friend and colleague.

“Kylie recently took time out from her busy recording schedule for a short break in South America.

“Whilst there, she met up with her friend, movie producer Mr Alexander Dahm, with whom she is discussing aspects of a potential film project.

“She found speculation in the press that she had been intruding upon an existing relationship particularly offensive.”

He added: “Kylie is currently on her way to the US for further meetings about upcoming projects.”
