May 9, 200718 yr Author no of him and bedfinger. that was like one of the unluckest bands in the world. supposed to be the new beatles of the 1970s but didnt most of the main memeber end up committing suicide??? Both singers committed suicide a few years apart
May 9, 200718 yr Author were badfinger an apple corps discovery then? Think they were discovered by the Beatles and they could have been huge, but both songwriters suffered from depression.
May 10, 200718 yr They were a Welsh group called The Ivys. The Beatles signed them and changed their name (Badfinger Boogie was the working title for With a Little Help From My Friends). They were produced by McCartney, Harrison and Todd Rungreun (sp) amongst others. There's a great book about them called 'Without You' which would put anyone off signing a management deal. Oh yeah. Nilsson rocks. Buy 'Personal Best' if you want a good comp. .....or Nilsson Schmilsson with the bonus tracks :)
May 10, 200718 yr A songwriter who wrote songs for The Monkees, Yardbirds, did he? i was unaware of that, most of the yardbirds hits were penned by graham gouldman, later of 10cc, and themselves. i cant find nilsson being credited at all. i didnt like 'without you' but it was infinately better then that wailing bi-tch that massacred it in the 90's... 'everybodys talkin' ' was a super track.

Checked this out :) www.classicbands.com/nilsson.html In the mid '60s he wrote a few songs with Phil Spector that were recorded by the Ronettes and the Modern Folk Quartet, and suddenly, Harry was a much sought after songwriter. The Monkees recorded his tune, "Cuddly Toy" and the Yardbirds did "Ten Little Indians" on a single in their waning days. Harry's songs were also recorded by The Turtles, Rick Nelson, Lulu, Blood, Sweat and Tears as well as Mary Hopkin.
May 11, 200718 yr Songs he wrote for others Cuddly Toy (Monkees), Ten Little Indians (yardbirds), One (3 Dog Night), This Could Be The Night (Modern Folk Quartet), Paradise (Shangri las, Ronettes), Here I Sit (Ronettes), Puppy Song (David Cassidy), The Story of Rock'n'Roll (Turtles), Together (Ringo). This is from memory, I should google :) Oh Yeah, there's about 100 different versions of his song Without Her. Every crooner in the mid 60's had a go at it.

'writing for' would indicate a seriese of songs.

May 11, 200718 yr Together was a duet between Ringo and Keith Moon. Nilsson's last recording was a bit part in the rock opera Paris. An Aussie CD based on Helen of Troy.
