good riddance, i just can't believe what i saw happening with the Iraq situation, it was all about doing what the Bush administration wanted to do, he didn't care about us and this country he made us look weak, making us look to the rest of the world like the UK was another state of USA, he would have gone into more wars if Bush wanted to invade north korea and iran you know we would be there too. its outrageous the way he acted and lied to us over Iraq....tony blair is a poodle no question and a coward he should have stood up to Bush

Exactly, can you imagine a gutless coward like Blair in charge of the country instead of Harold Wilson in the 60s....? British troops would've almost certainly have been sent out to Vietnam to have their bollocks shot off by the Viet Cong or the NVA... Wilson made a public show of support to the US for the sake of the "special relationship", which, at the time was vital because of the Soviet Union, but it was very telling that he refused to commit British troops, privately Wilson likely opposed Vietnam...

what is this "special relationship" the UK has with the US exactly? its seems like ths US admin has something on the UK, its almost like it has us on a leash? which makes the UK passive when it comes to international affairs? cause we support the administration there 100% no matter what it does, i wish i knew what it was. a good test would have been if charles kennedy was in power, would he have stood his ground and not gone into Iraq or would the US have used something against him to make him agree?

the 'special relationship' means that we help the yanks when they want us, but arnt obliged to recipricate the friendship.... like in the falklands conflict or especially when northern irelands troubles were going on.

Originally the "Special Relationship" harked back to the Post-WW2 times and the fact that UK, and most of Western Europe actually, received a lot of aid from the US Marshall Plan, so UK kind of felt a bit obliged at least to the US... Then in '56 the Suez crisis happened.. Anthony Eden (another liar called "Tony" coincidentally  ) along with France embarked on a disastrous plan to recapture the Suez canal from the Egyptians whose leader, Nasser, had Nationalised to benefit the actual people of Egypt as opposed to French and British colonialists... Good on him if you ask me... It was UK and France's plan to use Israel as a proxy in order to regain the canal.. Basically, Eden lied to Parliament, he made out that he had no idea what the Israelis were doing and he categorically denied that Israel was acting on UK's behalf.... The US came along and basically said to UK and France "Stop what you're doing or we'll cut off all aid", Eden got found out, he resigned and ever since then, UK has always played the subservient role to the US.... Even though times have changed, Europe and we are now a LOT stronger than we were in the 50s and we can tell the US to "fukk off" and stick more with Europe, we still look back at this time and believe, falsely, that we cant survive without America....

Yeah agree about NI

NORAID was fundraising massively for the IRA in America and the administration did bugger all about it

If a British organisation was going round actively raising funds for Al Qaeda I bet they would react differently

Pretty much in a nutshell mate... Our "Leaders" are basically told by the Mandarins in the Civil Service that the UK must be America's "b**ch" basically..... <_<

Too bad old George couldn't resign right along with him -_-

Why haven't you guys impeached that c/unt yet Tyler...? It's soooo much easier in your Constitution to get rid of a President than it is for us to get rid of a PM.... The whole point of the Constitution is that the Politicians are supposed to be the tools of the people, there to serve the people, NOT the other way round....
