Razorlight support Gibson Guitartown Campaign

Razorlight will be teaming up with an artist to design one of thirty 10ft fibreglass Gibson Les Paul to auction for charity in September in support of Gibson’s Guitartown Campaign. Prior to auction the guitars will be publicly displayed around More London (by Tower Bridge, SE1) from late June 2007 for ten weeks. Other supporters of the campaign include Noel Gallagher, New Order, Dirty Pretty Things and The Kooks who will also be contributing designs. Razorlight Rock Radio 1

Razorlight played a blinding set in Preston’s Moor Park on Saturday as headliners for Radio 1’s Big Weekend. Their ten song set opened with 2004 single ‘In The Morning’ and borrowed evenly from both their albums. Predictably ‘America’ raised the roof and was a high point to a consistent and outstanding set. You can view some pictures of the show here

In the meantime the next time you can see the band live in the UK will be at Scotland’s T In The Park festival on 7th July

Oh great news for the new single! ^_^

Found out that the version of 'Hold On' they play on Radio 1 is actually the Lilywhite remix. Think I like that one more than the album version, tbh. Both are good though ^_^

Johnny Bets On Gatsby

Johnny is one of a number of musicians who have designed cover art for classic Penguin novels re-issued this week. The classic titles including Dracula, Animal Farm, Dostoevsky’s Crime and Punishment, The Waves by Virginia Wolf and Lewis Carrol’s Alice in Wonderland are being packed in blank art paper quality jackets and the idea is that readers should make the outside of the book as personal as their reaction to the inside.

On drawing a betting slip for the cover of F Scott Fitzgerald’s The Great Gatsby, Johnny explains his thought process:

“I like books by depressing alcoholics. I was running a book on the Grand National in Tokyo and I was writing out a betting slip for everyone, and decided that my bookie’s name was going to be Gatsby. So the cover of this book is a betting slip. It’s a great honour to design the cover of a Penguin. They’re undisputed classics”.

Rev and Makers star slams Borrell

'He's a bell end' says Jon McClure

Reverend And The Makers leader Jon McClure has slammed Razorlight frontman Johnny Borrell, calling him a "bell end".

The singer, whose band release their debut album 'The State Of Things' in September, even drew paralells between Borrell and Adolf Hitler.

"He's a bell end," McClure told The Guardian. "He doesn't mean anything he says."

"On one level I respect his self-confidence," McClure continued, "in the way you might begrudgingly respect Hitler for building the autobahns.

"If it were matched with a genuine talent and intelligence then fair enough, but he hasn't got either. He's just got a big gob."

Er  This coming from someone in a band that will probably struggle to stay in the public eye past their next single? Speaking of the next single, isn't it out soon? :teresa: Anyway, Johnny will probably care if it was from someone who's important :D
