Razorlight Wish Fans A Happy New Year

Andy from the band left this message on the band's official site

t's been a long time since any of us have written a message on here, so i thought id say hi!

Last november we played our last show of an 18 month tour for the 'Razorlight' album, a very sweaty matinee show at the doors nightclub in Johannesburg. It was a great gig, thankyou to all who came along.

It's been an amazing tour, which has seen us play arenas, stadiums & festivals as well as clubs, pubs, karaoke bars, barges and a church!

In December we had a nice sleep, woke up at Christmas for a mince pie & glass of bucks fizz, and now we are ready to enter back into the studio to start work on our third album.

So here's wishing you all a fantastic 2008 and we'll see you very soon.

Cheers,

Andy x

Johnny's Soccer Surprise

RAZORLIGHT star JOHNNY BORRELL stunned residents of a quaint coastal Scottish town - by turning up to play for their local soccer team. The Golden Touch rocker quashed his difficult reputation by partying with the people of Oban before donning the locals' soccer kit for a match the following morning. Borrell stayed in the town en route to the Isle of Tiree, where he plans to write Razorlight's third album. He says, "I'm staying at a friend's house on Tiree to get some peace and quiet to write. But the guys in Oban have been great and we've been having a good time. We've enjoyed a few drinks."

Razorlight Memorabilia Destroyed in Camden Fire

Unique signed prints of The Libertines and Razorlight were destroyed in the fire that tore through Camden last night (February 9).

Renowned rock'n'roll watering hole The Hawley Arms was severely damaged in the blaze, including much of its music memorabilia.

NME photographer Andy Willsher had staged two exhibitions in the pub, including one depicting pub regulars Razorlight.

Willsher said: "It made sense to stage the Razorlight exhibition at the Hawley because it was the band's favourite drinking den. On some nights it felt like the centre of the music industry. There were unique prints on the wall that were signed by The Libertines, Razorlight, Dirty Pretty Things and 'The Mighty Boosh', which I guess have been destroyed."

He continued: "I feel terrible for the people who run the place. They were always really helpful, and massive music fans."

Hawley landlady Ruth Charles-Ridler told BBC News she was "devastated." She said, "everyone I've spoken to is in complete shock."

The pub had become infamous in the press recently as the local hangout of Amy Winehouse

Razorlight Hope Hawley Arms Will Be 'Back Soon'

Razorlight have spoken about their love of the Hawley Arms pub in London after it was damaged in the Camden fire yesterday (February 9).

The band were regulars at the boozer - so much so NME photographer Andy Willsher even used its upstairs room to stage an exhibition dedicated to Razorlight - which has become famous as a regular hang-out for the likes of Amy Winehouse and The Mighty Boosh.

Speaking about the serve damage to the pub in the fire, Razorlight drummer Andy Burrows told NME.COM he was sadden to hear the blaze.

"It was really sad to see the pictures after Saturday with the pub all black and the windows broken," he explained.

"We started going there as soon as Dougie (Charles-Riddler, landlord) moved in and he really put a lot of effort into turning that place into a cool pub. We just started going there all the time as he would cook me and Johnny (Borrell, Razorlight frontman) lasagne - this was before they got a proper kitchen - when we were on our way home from the studio while we were recording the second album."

He added that it was not only the band's regular pub, but it was also an important hub for Razorlight.

"It just became a really special place in our hearts. That's why Andy Willsher had his exhibition there - it felt like our dressing room!" he explained. "On a few occasions when we were playing around Camden it actually was our dressing room, they just let us use it as our base."

Despite initial rumours that the pub had been levelled in the Camden fire - which also engulfed parts of the nearby market forcing the fire brigade to evacuate the busy north London district - the damage though severe appears not to be as bad as first feared.

"It's not as bad as people first said to me it was and hopefully it's going to be ok," said Burrows. "It's such a beautiful pub hopefully it will be back very soon."

Camden Crawl Will 'Go Ahead As Planned' Say Organisers

The 2008 Camden Crawl will go ahead as planned, despite the fire that ravaged the north London district on Saturday night, the festival organisers have confirmed.

Much of Camden market was gutted by the huge fire, while a team of 100 firefighters was despatched to the area to tackle the blaze.

Also damaged in the fire was The Hawley Arms, the pub frequented by the likes of Razorlight, Amy Winehouse and the Mighty Boosh, and set to be used as a venue on this year's Camden Crawl on April 18th and 19th.

But according to festival organiser Lisa Paulon, this year's event will go ahead as planned.

The Crawl has previously featured the likes of Winehouse, Klaxons, the Holloways and Hot Chip and is held in a number of venues in the north London district.

Talking to NME, she said: "Last Saturday's tragic incident has understandably had a deep impact on those who work, live and frequent the Camden area.

"We are especially saddened by the extent of the damage wreaked upon The Hawley Arms and the upset and disruption that is has caused to our friends there."

"Central to last year's event, The Hawley was due to host various live events and parties, but will now unfortunately not be included within the festival," Paulon added.

She explained that as no other venues were affected by the fire, this year's event will go ahead as scheduled.

"Camden's musical history and reputation for breeding new musical talent will continue to be celebrated now more than ever and we are currently looking into ways that the festival will be able to help those affected by the fire."

Razorlight star woos Hermione

HARRY Potter sweetie EMMA WATSON has fallen under the spell of ex-junkie rocker JOHNNY BORRELL, The Sun can reveal.

Emma, 17 — whose character Hermione Granger romances fellow film wizard Ron Weasley — spent a night partying with the Razorlight frontman, 27.

They later left together in a taxi. Borrell has a history of drink and drug abuse, and once said he was a “smackhead at 16”.

He was dumped by Hollywood star KIRSTEN DUNST, 25, because of his bad boy rocker lifestyle. Emma, who has dated rising rugby star TOM DUCKER, 16, and marries Ron (RUPERT GRINT) in the final Potter book, was with Borrell at two London bashes.

A source said: “She seemed really happy. She’s a Razorlight fan and was star-struck.”
