As I've been scrolling through this forum, it occurred to me, I haven't seen anything about punk band Black Flag, or the more recent Rollins Band. I'm sure many who visit this forum already know, Henry Rollins, leader of thr Rollins Band, was lead singer for punk icons Black Flag. Was just curious as to any other fans of either band. I find Henry Rollins' lyrics to be quite fascinationg, personally.

Black Flag were legends.... I mean, we slag off the Yanks for not getting Punk Rock, but when you look at the likes of The Dead Kennedys, Black Flag, Fugazi and Bad Brains, well, the Americans understood Punk Rock at one point, so just what the fukk went wrong....??? :huh: :huh:

I've been wondering the same thing here, just what, indeed, did go the hell wrong here, with us Yanks and our ability to fully grasp the concept of punk, and all its glory...

well the Liar video has been seen a few times in the Culture Box as a fine example of video art and Black Flag has been discussed in the indie/alternative area some months back. people who've been on here for a while might remember the controvery it caused as the topic title was something like 'Lucie Silvas is so $h!te she makes [ another $h!tty singer ] sound like Black Flag!!! So who is Black Flag!!!!???'

From what I can remember, Black Flag were a punk band from the early 1980's, a product of the US punk scene, which wasn't nearly as good or well-known as that from the UK, or Europe. I can't remember any of their albums of the top of my head, but, they were true to the punk roots of the likes of the Sex Pistols. Lead singer Henry Rollins was literally chosen from the crowds at a show Black Flag were playing in NYC, IIRC,and he's continued his social singings to this day as the lead singer of the Rollins Band. If there are any other punk heads out there with more, or better, info on Black Flag than what I've offered so far, I invite you to add to/correct me, as to what I've said to this point.
