All Balkan countries are GAY.

Gay as in homosexual or gay as in happy?

But yes they all work for each other!

NEXT year just send Cyndi, someone should write her a DECENT song.

She almost represented the UK! Terry Wogan and Fearn Cotton should have just kept quiet!!!

Judges instead of televoting would be much better.

LMAO, what a load of bull.

Sorry, maybe we should make a group called THE ANTI UK-SENDING-c**p-SONGS-TO-EUROVISION-THEN-BITCHING-WHEN-WE-DON'T-WIN-THREAD??

There IS block voting, but I'll eat my hat if it's political.

LMAO, what a load of bull.

Cyprus and Greece share the same music industry basically - hence why they continually exchange votes -_-

The same applies with neighbourly voting, similar culture, similar music taste = votes, nobody votes on fecking politics at 10:30pm on a Saturday!

And don't point to Serbia and Ukraine to show 'proof', as West Europe voted for them too! -_-

Didn't you see they all voted for there Neighbours

The thing about neighbours voting is this:

When the Baltic area split, they took the contest into each region with them. They take the contest seriously over there, so it's not an embrassing thing to enter if you're a big star, like it is here. And, a star that's big in one baltic country has a very good chance of being popular in another, and they promote themselves on being a Eurovision star, which no-one does over here. It's seen as a joke here, and for that reason none of our big names will ever compete. Also, because it used to be one big country, they have very similar taste, and that's why they vote for their neighbour ... because their musical taste is VERY similar. That's why a lot of the songs sound similar.

Surely you can't begrudge Cyprus voting for Greece? It was a great entry!!

There is block voting, but it is musical taste, not politics that define it. If we were joined onto France or stuck on the end of the Swedish/Finnish/Danish area of the continent, would they give us 12 points? No ... because we sent a c**p song which is neither representative of OUR music scene or popular in the rest of Europe. The song we sang tonight was completely alien to the rest of Europe, and THAT is why we got so few points.

But will we have learned anything from it? Or will we send something equally trashy and what we are convinced defines Eurovision (yet actually defines Eurovision ten years ago) because we're too arrogant to notice that the contest has changed in the last 30 years.

A very good post, points well argued and for the most part completely spot on....

Scooch did badly because THE SONG SUCKS!!!!! THEY SUCK!!!!!

Political my arse... Ireland came LAST, I suppose the whole of Europe hates Ireland too then eh, even though at one point it seemed as though Ireland was winning the damn thing every year....

You're right Andrew, it is all down to certain countries having particular musical tastes....

We sent out an act that no sod in the rest of Europe had ever heard of, well, in fact, we sent an act who WE don't even like that much either, they're hardly matching the likes of Robbie Williams, Arctic Monkeys or Coldplay for record sales are they...? Last year with Dodgy Daz it was the same fukkin' thing, a total musical nonentity making out like he represented British music scene... Please....

The problem with this country when it comes to Eurovision is that we're far too arrogant to note change and put it down to unpopularity - hence why we blame nul points in 2003 on Iraq rather than the fact the bint was off key for the whole thing...<_<
