May 12, 200718 yr It's still not really down to liking the songs that much though. People do give votes to their neighbours purely because they are neighbouring countries.
May 12, 200718 yr Bring back national juries. :arrr: Actually, they'd do exactly the same so don't bother.
May 12, 200718 yr To be fair we wouldn't moan if we did block voting. It does completely spoil the show though. Well, we did slightly benefit from that, our nearest neighbours IRELAND gave us a totally undeserved 12 points... And we didn't even bother our arses to reciprocate.....
May 12, 200718 yr And we didn't even bother our arses to reciprocate..... In fairness, Ireland got a fair placing, the song was boring and badly delivered. I wouldn't have given them any more than I'd have given us  edit: Malta gave us our 12, Ireland gave us an 8 I believe? Still, 8 too many  Edited May 12, 200718 yr by Andrewy

I wouldn't have given them any more than I'd have given us  It was a bit sort of "typical Oirish", wasn't it... Only think missing was Lepreuchauns really....  But at one point, the ESC totally lapped it up.... Maybe next year Ireland should try something a bit different.... Maybe even try to convince U2 to give it a go....?

May 12, 200718 yr edit: Malta gave us our 12, Ireland gave us an 8 I believe? Was it 8...? got mixed up a bit there, LOL Wasn't worth and 8 either though....
May 12, 200718 yr QUOTE(Andrewy @ May 13 2007, 12:02 AM) So how come we gave Ireland no points, for example? Cos they were $h!t. So, we DID vote according to the song?
May 12, 200718 yr Ireland gave us 7, Malta gave us 12 ;) ....Or 7.....  Frankly, I'd say we would've deserved 'Null Pointes' to be honest.... I think a total humiliation would've actually made the BBC, who seem to be in charge of the whole thing over here, actually think "$h!t, we really need to radically alter how we approach this".... But because we actually didn't come last, it's just gonna be business as usual for next year..... And again, we'll come bottom 5.....
May 12, 200718 yr It was a bit sort of "typical Oirish", wasn't it... Only think missing was Lepreuchauns really.... Indeed!! It was very cliche, but Ireland have won enough times for it not to matter that they came last this time, we haven't got the luxury of saying "oh well, we did well the last 4 years" I'd LOVE to see U2 take part, I'd be waving an Irish flag that year, I think!
May 12, 200718 yr I think a total humiliation would've actually made the BBC, who seem to be in charge of the whole thing over here, actually think "$h!t, we really need to radically alter how we approach this".... Couldn't have put it better! Then again, I hoped that with Jemini's flop, but that was brushed under the carpet with a fleeting "we couldn't hear ourselves sing, that's why we humiliated the UK" statement. I was hoping for a 0, so that people might finally wake-up, albeit 5 years later than everyone else, that this isn't the cheese-fest it once was!

But because we actually didn't come last, it's just gonna be business as usual for next year..... And again, we'll come bottom 5..... If we'd come last though, it might have just motivated the public to send another 'joke' again - we had the chance to send Cyndi, a female power ballad (WHICH WON THIS YEAR <_<) but fecking John Barrowman knew EXACTLY what the public would make of 'are we sending a song you like, or a EUROVISION song?' :manson: - the public seem determined that it's political because we're so fecking ARROGANT and are unable to accept that it might be because of CHANGE, even when all of the signs are there (e.g. Ireland finishing last, Serbia getting points from bsaically EVERYONE -_-) that that is the case <_< It's a pity they don't seem to understand how expensive these 'joke' entries are!

People will moan about eastern Europe chumminess, and seemingly ignore that the West sent crap this year, even though we ALL voted for eastern countries as well!
