Posted May 13, 200718 yr Had only the finalists voted... Serbia 146 Russia 141 Ukraine 136 Bulgaria 105 Greece 93 Belarus 91 Turkey 88 Moldova 82 Armenia 80 Hungary 71 Georgia 69 Romania 52 Bosnia-H 41 FYROM 40 Slovenia 37 Latvia 32 Lithuania 27 Finland 19 Sweden 15 Germany 8 Spain 7 United Kingdom 7 France 5 Ireland 0
May 13, 200718 yr the only trouble with that is that the Eastern block countries would have been given even more of an advantage and most of them got voted through the semis ;)
May 13, 200718 yr Interesting that the bottom 6 countries (in this format) are all the Western European countries. However that is probably due to not one of these 6 countries entering this year a decent tune between them.
May 13, 200718 yr Its not even about the songs anymore Bores me 2 death! Whole Programme is well rubbish. Get UK out of there :( Then we will see how Eurovision copes without our money going into this shambles!

Get UK out of there :( Then we will see how Eurovision copes without our money going into this shambles! Oh God, SHUT UP! It IS about the songs, I'm sick of saying this - Balkan countries enter songs representative of their culture and music - i.e. Serbia etc., and as these countries share similar cultures, it is only to be expected that they share similar music tastes in general, so these countries DO like the songs, it's not anything to do with 'politics' or 'neighbours' - these countries were at WAR only a decade ago FFS! I doubt things are still completely rosy! -_- The reason why the Western countries are all at the bottom - NONE of them were of great quality this year! Ireland was the only decent song - can you imagine many of the counties around Europe LISTEN to that sort of music? They'd probably forgotten it by the end! What shambles may I ask? :)
May 13, 200718 yr That said, I'm so disappointed that Russia would've won :cry: So close!:cry:
May 13, 200718 yr Author Oh. I accidentally left Israel in. It would actually have looked like this: Serbia 146 Russia 141 Ukraine 136 Bulgaria 105 Greece 93 Belarus 91 Turkey 88 Moldova 82 Armenia 80 Hungary 71 Georgia 69 Romania 52 Bosnia-H 41 FYROM 40 Slovenia 37 Latvia 32 Lithuania 27 Finland 19 Sweden 15 Germany 8 Spain 7 United Kingdom 7 France 5 Ireland 0 So once again, having semi-finalists voting changes nothing.

No i think they all listen to timberlake/furtado/timbaland, avril lavigne and gwen stefani (well that was the top 3 eurochart singles last time i looked   ) note: DJ Otzi was about #10  OMG!!! http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/8/82/Ein_Stern.jpg
May 13, 200718 yr What happend to Guri Schanke??? i was disappointed when i didnt see her :( She got knocked out in the semis, her performance was quite weak :(

Also another post on here a member said they could tell out of 26 of the countries voting they knew who would get 12 points! Shambles indeed :) Proves my point that song doesn't count in many cases... Just to prove my point further Norway Denmark Sweden & Finland always give there points 2 each other! Plus Ireland decent song, can I just say didn't enjoy that at all, sorry Ireland but it was a bit weak. Just look at the Semi's why did many Western countries not make it through hmmm... Terry Wogan is the best thing going about the whole show cause it stinks in many ways ;) EDIT! 'Tonight I was able to call 26 of the 42 "twelve points". Without hearing the songs, I could probably do the same for the 2008 Contest.' Here is the quote & guess who Posted it...Yes You Tyron :) Edited May 13, 200718 yr by Paul_7

Without hearing the songs, I could probably do the same for the 2008 Contest.' Here is the quote & guess who Posted it...Yes You Tyron :) I never said that we would've won with Cyndi, more that we would've done A LOT better - which entry won - FEMALE POWER BALLAD - we would've stood out A LOT more and done better, perhaps even pushed for top 15, we will do well again ONCE WE PUT IN THE EFFORT - the last time we sent a song where we put in an effort? 2002 - and we finished THIRD, so I think that goes to show we CAN do well if we try. And you just COMPLETELY ignored what I said, so I shall repeat it :) It IS about the songs, I'm sick of saying this - Balkan countries enter songs representative of their culture and music - i.e. -_-ALL THESE NEIGHBOURS SHARE CULTURES - if Ireland entered U2 (and Balkans do send their stars who are known in neighbourly countries) we wouldn't call it 'neigbourly' or 'political' if we voted for them!:rolleyes: And, you also ignored what I said about the Western countries, so I shall repeat THAT too -_- The reason why the Western countries are all at the bottom - NONE of them were of great quality this year! Ireland was the only decent song - can you imagine many of the counties around Europe LISTEN to that sort of music? They'd probably forgotten it by the end! -_- And that quote about the 26 12 points comes from the AKOE blog (http://akoe07.livejournal.com/), that isn't my opinion, I was specifically quoting the ideas for semi-final voting ;) The show ISN'T a shambles, we're just too arrogant to believe that it is actual CHANGE, and we chalk it down to 'politics' -_- It's neighbourly voting, but not BECAUSE they're neighbours, but because they enter songs REPRESENTATIVE of their similar cultures! ^_^
May 13, 200718 yr That's mainly influenced by West Europe, well i know they speak French in Canada but last time i looked it was in North America
May 13, 200718 yr But without hearing our song I could also make a pretty certain statement that the UK's song will be rubbish  Tyron actually posted that comment of someone elses, and not his own view. Although whether he agreed or not, I don't recall. There IS predictability and there IS block voting, but it is because THE BORDERING COUNTRIES HAVE SIMILAR CULTURE HERITAGE AND MUSICAL TASTE. THAT is why you can predict the "12 points" countries.
May 13, 200718 yr Also, I agree, Cyndi may not have won, but we'd have done a hell of a lot better!! She gave a great performance, with a ballad. What sort of song WON this year, again? Was it a ballad? ;)
May 13, 200718 yr Author Yeah for example no-one had heard of Marija Serifovic anywhere else, but many Balkan countries already had. However I do still think that there is an element of voting just because they are neighbours, have family living there or whatever. The thing that really pissed me off about the voting is the immigrant votes. Ireland voting for Lithuania, Spain voting for Romania, just about everyone voting for Turkey and Armenia and so on...

I don't understand why people don't seem to be getting the message here :( Proof lies in the fact that Ireland did badly (yeah, didn't Europe used to absolutely hate Ireland? GOD knows how they managed to get all those victories...) and the fact that Serbia won, with high points coming from: Montenegro, Belarus, Armenia, ANDORRA, AUSTRIA, FRANCE, DENMARK, GREECE, SPAIN, FINLAND & Turkey - I doubt that many people would consider the countries in block (no pun intended...) capitals part of the Balkan bloc! Or then again, maybe they all emigrated for half an hour just to vote for Serbia...-_- And Cyndi would've given us at least a top fifteen result, I'm certain of it. And at the very least, France would've given us a point or two for once :lol:
