Posted May 13, 200718 yr OK everyone, take this with a pinch of salt. This is what the scoreboard looks like if you take away points given by neighbours / friends. It should be pointed out that if countries didn't vote for their neighbours, they would have voted for other countries and this does not take that into account, so don't take it too seriously. This is merely to show exactly how much songs were helped by neighbours. I should also point out that some countries were helped by population living in other countries, in particular, Turkey and Armenia. I haven't taken away those points, as it is hard to tell exactly which countries gave them points for this reason. In brackets are the countries' actual finishing position. It would have been extremely tense.... 1. Serbia - 195 pts (1st) 2. Ukraine - 194 pts (2nd) 3. Russia - 157 pts (3rd) 4. Turkey - 146 pts (4th) 5. Bulgaria - 120 pts (5th) 6. Armenia - 104 pts (8th) 7. Greece - 100 pts (7th) 8. Hungary - 97 pts (9th) 9. Belarus - 92 pts (6th) 10. Moldova - 84 pts (10th) 11. Georgia - 80 pts (12th) 12. Bosnia H - 61 pts (11th) 13. Romania - 59 pts (13th) 14. Latvia - 34 pts (16th) 15. Slovenia - 33 pts (15th) 16. Spain - 29 pts (20th) 17. Germany - 24 pts (19th) 18. Finland - 20 pts (17th) 19. Lithuania - 16 pts (21st) 20. FYR Macedonia - 14 pts (14th) 21. UK - 12 pts (23rd) 22. France - 11 pts (22nd) 23. Sweden - 9 pts (18th) 24. Ireland - 5 pts (24th) No huge changes, but again, it should be pointed out that if neighbours didn't get points, then some countries who didn;t score well such as Sweden, Spain, Latvia etc may have got more points. No points have been added on here. Some gainers would have been Latvia, Spain and Germany, who got a scattering from all over but didn't rely all that much on neighbours. Two big losers jump out as Sweden, who were completely ignored apart from the Nordic countries, and Macedonia, whose 73 points consisted almost completely of points from neighbours. Ireland would still have finished last, getting points only from Albania's back up jury. The winner would most likely have been Ukraine had neighbourly voting not been an issue - so it's not all bad :P
May 13, 200718 yr Macedonia :o:o  And I think this goes to show that people CANNOT complain about neighbourly votes <_< At the very least it saved us from having to endure complaints from the media about how much of a joke Eurovision was - which surely would've happened had Ukraine won :(
May 13, 200718 yr It should be pointed out that if countries didn't vote for their neighbours, they would have voted for other countries and this does not take that into account, so don't take it too seriously. This is exactly why this chart is completly useless LOL and that's also why Tyron I still complain about those neighbouring votes. The 7 western countries in the final finished within the 8 last positions... If the French Song or the Spanish song were sung by Montenegro or Belarus they would have had more points and possibly wouls have finished in the Top 10... So yes this is unfair... I'm not saying that all the Western songs were great (I was for Serbia) but it's just not surprising to see who's once more in the last places... My fav songs were Serbia, Georgia, Finland & Ireland (though the performance yesterday was c**p)
May 13, 200718 yr I can't believe the UK gave nothing to Ireland <_< I can't believe Ireland gave the UK points. Both were awful imo.
