Posted May 14, 200718 yr Ok, here is MY analysis. I've seperated Europe into two parts. One part containing all the Baltic & Former Soviet states and the other containing the rest of Europe. This is how the REST OF EUROPE voted. This includes votes from Andorra, Austria, Belgium, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Iceland, Ireland, Israel, Malta, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, The Netherlands, Turkey & UK. I have discounted votes from Albania, Armenia, Belarus, Bosnia, Bulgaria, Croatia, Estonia, Macedonia, Georgia, Hungary, Latvia, Moldova, Lithuania, Montenegro, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Slovenia & Ukraine. The results table would look like this... 1 1 Serbia 144 2 2 Ukraine 135 3 4 Turkey 111 4 8 Armenia 96 5 3 Russia 93 6 5 Bulgaria 87 7 9 Hungary 81 8 7 Greece 72 9 11 Bosnia 60 10 13 Romania 58 11 10 Moldova 56 12 18 Sweden 51 13 6 Belarus 47 14 17 Finland 41 15 19 Germany 40 16 12 Georgia 37 17 20 Spain 27 18 16 Latvia 25 19 23 U.K 19 20 15 Slovenia 17 21 21 Lithuania 16 22 14 Macedona 13 23 22 France 8 24 24 Ireland 0 This is how WESTERN, NORTHERN & SOUTHERN EUROPE voted. And somewhat unsurprisingly, the results are rather similar. It shows that Belarus and FYROMacedonia benefit most from political voting and Sweden and Armenia suffered most. And even then, it's not by much. There, proof that the Eastern Blocs don't do much to affect the overall result at the top. Sorry if something similar has already been posted but I cba to look through all the threads. :)

May 14, 200718 yr I never put it down to block voting, its purely similar musical tastes. Plus we send such drivel that we deserve what we get. We need to send credible, renowned artists as do the other countries. That aside, I cant believe that that many people acutally liked that Ukrainian nonsense. :puke2:
May 14, 200718 yr Thanks for posting that RabbitFurCoat. ^_^ Interesting. That aside, I cant believe that that many people acutally liked that Ukrainian nonsense. :puke2: Me, too. :puke2: But, I think that's just for one time, and then everybody will totally forget that song even existed. -_-
May 14, 200718 yr But, I think that's just for one time, and then everybody will totally forget that song even existed. -_- The iTunes chart begs to differ, it's currently pushing top ten and will almost certainly go top 40 in the official chart by Sunday
May 14, 200718 yr Latest on iTunes: #12 United Kingdom #13 Ukraine #60 Russia #70 Serbia #72 Greece #73 Finland #80 Sweden #94 France #98 Georgia I'm surprised Turkey aren't there, considering we have them our douze.

May 14, 200718 yr Never mind, as I said, that's just for few days or maybe weeks. -_- I'm getting horridly addicted to it now :( DANZING! Yes, really confusing. And Serbia didn't get any points and it's #70. David, is the Serbia download the English translation or the original Serbian language version? Because if it's the latter that's one HELL of an achievement! :o
May 14, 200718 yr Everyone I asked at school agrees that Serbia was the deserved winner too. It's a stunning song.
May 14, 200718 yr Of course it is deserved. If there was any politics involved, the winners would have been about 3-4 changing every year. The fact that so different countries win shows that the most important thing people vote for is the song itself, regardless of what country's song it is. :)
May 14, 200718 yr Everyone I asked at school agrees that Serbia was the deserved winner too. It's a stunning song. Nice to hear that. :D But still, we didn't get not even one point from the UK. Of course it is deserved. The fact that so different countries win shows that the most important thing people vote for is the song itself, regardless of what country's song it is. :) I totally agree Catherine. ^_^ :cheer:
May 14, 200718 yr I don't think it is only block voting but also immigrant voting. So therefore the chart is not that useful. I mean there are so many immigrants from East in West and and almost no-one vice versa. And these immigrants are very eager voters for their home countries. I mean 12 points from Germany to Turkey every year no matter what kinda c**p Turkey sends (See: last year). These kind of examples can be found from almost every Western country, you just need to check from which Eastern Eueropean country the most immigrants are in a certain Western coutry and you can see the countries that will score high points.
May 15, 200718 yr I will not blame block voting either as my two votes went to Belarus and Bulgaria in the east... If Germany, France or Spain ever send a song worthy of my vote then of course I will vote for it but what I would NEVER do is vote for a specific country

I think you're wrong mate, RFC's chart is very useful and telling... Don't blame the "immigrant " or Diasporic vote if the majority indigenous people are too fukkin' lazy to pick up a phone or are otherwise out on the town getting pissed up and not even watching the prog... That's a bit like not bothering to vote in an election and then whingeing about c**p the Govt is.... If you dont take part, then you've no right to moan about the results, simple as.....
May 15, 200718 yr A similar sort of table from ESC Nation, who just counted all the pre-1993 countries and Andorra... 01 (01) 128 Serbia 02 (02) 111 Ukraine 03 (04) 111 Turkey 04 (03) 84 Russia 05 (05) 80 Bulgaria 06 (09) 79 Hungary 07 (08) 76 Armenia 08 (07) 69 Greece 09 (13) 58 Romania 10 (11) 56 Bosnia-Herzegovina 11 (18) 51 Sweden 12 (10) 50 Moldova 13 (17) 41 Finland 14 (19) 40 Germany 15 (06) 38 Belarus 16 (12) 31 Georgia 17 (20) 27 Spain 18 (16) 24 Latvia 19 (23) 19 United Kingdom 20 (21) 16 Lithuania 21 (15) 13 Slovenia 22 (14) 8 Macedonia 23 (22) 8 France 24 (24) 0 Ireland
