Monica's fourth single from the album The Makings Of Me has been selected as the decent Hell No (Leave Home) which features Twista. First single Everytime Tha Beat Drop got to #48 in the US but 2nd single, the far superior A Dozen Roses, only got to the same number on the R&B chart, and shouldve been the lead single. On top of this, the album has sold less than 300k in the US to date, disappointing given her huge past success, and third single Sideline Ho's lack of a video prevented it getting higher than 45 on the R&B chart.

Hopefully, since Hell No will have a video and features big-name rapper Twista, itll not only chart on the Hot 100 but also reignite interested in the album. The single cover is above and the video should hopefully emerge shortly. Here is the song:

I don't think she released the right single. "Why Her" or "Raw" should have been the next single.

Never been a fan of Monica since 'The Makings Of Me' which is an absolutely crackin' album

 

I agree, A Dozen Roses should have been the lead single!

Also, isn't Everytime Tha Beat Drop supposed to be getting a UK release, it's been on the 'coming soon' bit of the release schedule for ages now!

:lol: I doubt itll happen, i think it was planned around April time to tie-in with the album release, but eventually neither happened! If she does release her, its got to be Dozen Roses!!

"everytime tha beat drop" was added to a few music channels and quickly taken off sometime last year.

 

she's made the wrong choices with the singles and the order they're released, IMO.

Yep, I think the last 3 singles have all been good choices, but it shouldve gone like this:

 

1. A Dozen Roses

2. Sideline Ho

3. Not sure about this one..

 

I need to get the album! I know most of the songs but I should really get the CD.

i'd have preffered something like:

 

1. a dozen roses (you remind me)

2. why her

3. sideline ho

4. raw

 

i really don't like this gangsta-wannabe side to monica either.

Oh i like it, i actually think its a lot more radio-friendly and less bland than some of her previous singles. A Dozen Roses is just amazing :wub:

That was one catchy wee fizzle :)

It got to #48 on the Hot 100 but wasnt released elsehwere :(
