You have to feel for them, you really do. They have horrendous luck in the ESC and this year when they finally send a decent song, they are beaten by a meagre three points to a place in the final. If they had more neighbours, they would've made it. :(

I think there were better songs which didnt get through e.g Switzerland and Denmark

It was an ok song but I doubt it would have done that well in the Final had it got through

Poor country, denied top TWENTY with their best song in 2003 :( Deserved top 5 -_-...

Hmm yes that song did kinda get overlooked. Saying that, I didn't think it was anything too special and it seemed inevitable it was gonna flop. :(

Portugal is one of my faves from this years semi now, but I didn't like it so much at first listen, which I guess on the night is what counts
Well it was the most successful Western European song this year. I certainly didn't see that one coming.

I suppose it was yes. :o Here is how all the Western songs did, I've just taken their points, whether they were in the semi or final:

Portugal 88

Andorra 80

Iceland 77

Germany 49

Denmark 45

Spain 43

Switzerland 40

Netherlands 38

France 19

United Kingdom 19

Malta 15

Belgium 14

Ireland 5

Austria 4

Finalists marked in bold... only the big four and Ireland!

how come portugal got more points than England and yet didnt go through?

The UK were already qualified, the bolded ones are the finalists, unbolded ones are results from the semi-final.
Sometime I think that even with Nelly in scampy clothes, we wouldn't win
