I'm sorry but I think she really is starting to sell out image wise. This wouldn't irritate me so much if she didn't diss the likes of Britney Spears/ Christina Aguilera for doing pretty much the same thing. But her music is still great so I will get over it.

When she started she made a big show of being "different" to the likes of Aguillera, PCD and Spears in the way she portrayed herself (ie, she didn't behave or dress up like a whore), now she's just making herself as bad as they are.. She's no kind of role model for young kids and should stop even pretending to be....

Avril Lavigne has posed topless for a US magazine. The 22-year-old singer appears on the front cover of Blender's June edition with her arms above her head in just a pair of black jeans with only the headline 'Hell Yeah, I'm Hot!' protecting her modesty.

 

The photo spread inside, which appears under the tag line 'Wild Thing', shows Avril wearing a short leather skirt, fishnet stockings and an open leather jacket posing with a bottle of whisky and a cigar.

 

The pictures are adorned with the quotes: "I used to drink like a motherf***er, but I'm more mature now."

 

And: "I'm very driven. I'm the kind of person who doesn't take no for an answer."

 

In another photograph, Avril - who is married to Sum 41 frontman Deryck Whibley - sits with her legs pulled up looking down demurely in a cream mac, patent black stilettos and stockings

 

Avril's latest photo shoot could be interpreted as hypocritical, following her scathing remarks about Britney Spears using her sexuality to sell records.

 

The 'Girlfriend' singer said: "I'm more about a performance, she's more about entertainment and sex, being a sex symbol and trying to look like she's having sex."

Shes lost a bit of cred now I think. Didnt expect her to do this but I dont really care though.

I really don't think that Britney story is right.

She actually said in an interview I saw that after an incident a few years ago she stopped badmouthing people publically but she still gets asked at interviews about hot topics at the moment.

I mean seriously - WHY the f*** would she go on and on about not being some $l*t and then spend the other 50% of her time talking about Britney and posing naked? I think either [a] she has a scary obsession with the Spears or some f***ers are $h!tstirring and no Grimly Fiendish - I don't care if you think this reply is wrong or my views aren't good enough, please don't reply and patronise me.

I agree mate, it's ludicrous really, she cant go and do these deliberately provocative sorts of photoshoots in which she is totally objectified, and then try to claim some sort of "artistic superiority" when she's merely doing what all the rest of em - Britney, X-Tina, Pussycat Dolls, Sarah Harding, et al, are doing.... Frankly, I have more respect for Lily Allen, she doesn't resort to this whole "sell yourself body and soul" bullsh!t that too many of these young, female Pop Stars are doing these days. In fact, Lily is doing what Avril used to do - ie, to merely 'be herself', Avril is merely playing a role now, and it's a pretty objectionable and degrading one IMO.... When Madonna did her whole "Erotica" and "Sex" thing, she was challenging boundaries and she put everything into a particular context, she was in control and was never the "object", I would say that what Madonna did was very Pro-Feminist..... I don't see anything of the sort in what Avril is doing.... I would be very worried if I had a young teenage daughter who was emulating Avril tbh....

And the under-age pregnancy statistics just keep rising... Ever ask yourself "why"....? <_<

Exactly... She's trying to convey this entirely false image of herself, being some kind of Britney or X-Tina type, it's very forced and the quotes read like they've been scripted frankly... It's all totally contrived, fake and downright sleazy.... It doesn't do her any favours and it certainly doesn't do her female teen fans any favours either...

Sorry i just don't generally get emotive over magazine covers...but that's just me.

I'm GUESSING it's linked in that this will help her sell more albums. And oh, i said the cover was great, not the effects of the cover. Read properly before getting ott.
