Miami revamp for The Long Good Friday

9.52, Thu May 17 2007

Classic British gangster flick The Long Good Friday is set to get a Miami makeover.

Announced at the Cannes Film Festival, the £25 million remake will re-locate to the US and begin production next year.

The original Bafta-nominated film starred Bob Hoskins and Helen Mirren and was set in 1980s London.

Directed by John Mackenzie, The Long Good Friday is still seen as one of the great British gangster movies.

The story sees Hoskins as a volatile gangster close to the deal of a lifetime when someone suddenly start blowing up his property.

The remake will be directed by Newcastle-born Paul WS Anderson, but it is not yet known who will make up the cast.

Outrageous !!! what the hell next ?

The greatest film ever to come out of this country probably and it is going to be remade by the t*** that bought us such bilge as Resident Evil and Alien v Predator :manson:

I didn't mind "Resident Evil" tbh, and "Aliens Vs Predator" is just a pretty good laugh, but those sorts of films are about Paul W S Anderson's level, he aint got the skill to even touch "The Long Good Friday" as far as I'm concerned... Even Nick Love would be preferable if a remake absolutely had to be done, which, frankly it doesn't... The Yanks totally fukked up "Get Carter" (which didn't even get a proper cinema release in this country...) and "The Italian Job", so I dont see this one being any better tbh....

If it goes ahead I hope it flops completely, there are some things which should just be left alone and this is one of them! -_-
