July 2, 200718 yr I hope they do give him the chance the talent is there and they need to develop on work in it with him and encourage him also
July 2, 200718 yr Author This is what Will fans on Devoted said :D -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- male artist are having a difficult time at the moment - bands and ruddy comeback's are the 'in' thing. I think GG is likely to get axed I'm afraid after such poor sales and massive expensive TV exposure, although the radio stations ignopring his music is sheer pettiness. BLTxx There are other post from Will fans who think Gareth will get dropped. Whatever Will's fans did or didn't say on Will's site, there really is no need to bring it over here to stir up trouble. I think its fair to say we've all moved past this pettiness. Please don't bother to feel you have to bother to inform us in future. We really aren't interested.
July 2, 200718 yr Author I throught Gareth's label would think the same at 19 that it take time for Gareth to get back to where he was? they can't expect him to come back from where he left off.I hope Gareth's ok? I'm sure Gareth is just fine. If you'd seen him on Saturday, when he must have known where the album was going to chart, or read the blog he put on his site yesterday, you'd see there really doesn't seem to be anything to worry about. His time will come to show people how wrong they've been about him. Just be patient
July 2, 200718 yr Gareth's album is album of the week on a few radio stations this week. :cheer: Some lucky people heard Lost in you on the radio, I hope I will be able to catch it sometime too.

It sounded fantastic on the radio too. Hope a few more stations will pick up on it as well

It seems a shame that the people on Devoted who are talking like this about Gareth can't do so without it and their signature being branded on other sites. It is quite encouraging that some radio stations are featuring Gareth's album as 'Album of the Week'. Good to see they are not following GCAP's example(and this the station that is featuring a naked DJ across the land to promote their music) :o :o .
July 4, 200718 yr Q5K203e1xmE The more I hear this song, the more I love it. It's much better in full than it was in the clip.
July 5, 200718 yr I like him, itl take him a while to get back into the rythem of the industry though :)
July 5, 200718 yr What was it you said Munchkin? I was replying to the stirrer's post and then decided not to waste my time. I just said that far from being malicious the majority of Will's fans are sympathetic and admire Gareth's fans for being so loyal and loving unlike them who claim to be a fan of Will but are so obviously not. This person has taken someone's post from a forum not open to casual visitors and is for Will's fans to discuss other music. It's inevitable that someone is going to give an opinion less than positive - after all it's a dedicated Will Young fan site not an open one like Buzzjack or others.

I think most of Gareth's fans on here have made it pretty clear that we're not interested in what they have to say and would prefer that they didn't try to stir up trouble.
July 5, 200718 yr I think Gareth's clips are great, good luck to him - whether he is top ten or not - what does it matter if he is doing this sort of music and can feel proud of it, it is a shame labels arent in it to develop artists only to cash in on then when they look as if they will make profits! surely those times will be changing with all the internet access to songs we are not allowed to listen to on the radio due to "the men in black" people can progress to downloading or buying CDs straight form the artist, that way they can support what they like, not what they are limited to hearing hyped up by the labels and the music industry, I am sick of Virgin Radio's lack of imagination on their play list, but the others are just as bad, sometimes I feel like I am in groundhog day, soon they will turn people off indie, like they did with all the other genres they get hold of to commercialise. I feel will123 should be ignored or perhaps given a warning? what point is there to their posts other than playing the little oddball kid running between gangs and spreading tales I havent seen any sensible post yet. I agree - it's only taking the thread OT to talk about them, which is probably what they wanted in the first place. The rest of us seem agreed that they are out to cause trouble, and we don't believe them to be genuine, so let's not spoil a perfectly good thread by mentioning them more than we have already. If they post again, we can take it for granted that we all know what they are doing, without having to say so. The strangle-hold certain people have over playlists is very frustrating, but the big labels don't just exert their influence in terms of a radio plugging monopoly. They do deals to get all of their acts onto the festival circuit as a job lot, and onto the music channels, and to a certain extent, providing the pointers to the media so they can "discover" music on the internet. Don't be fooled into thinking that the Sandi Thom phenomenon was down to people power. The whole thing was stage managed within part of a major record deal. Fortunately, for those artists who already have a fan-base, the part of their fan-base that is online can at least find out what they are doing and hear their music. :)

I heard Geldof(sir) talking about this in an interview. The GBP don't realise how they are manipluated into buying into all this. There is such a huge amount of great music out there, shame we only get force fed what the money makers want us to buy! as for Sandi Thom, what a marketing con - if people really thought she just happened to be attracting millions just on her own on myspace - what happened to her after all that intense hype using the homegrown natural talent discovered by the people nonsense. July 7, 200718 yr Thanks Munchkin. Stops me wondering. I see Gareth has added a couple of the album tracks to his myspace.CLICK HERE TO LISTEN Afterglow and Talking Minds. Absolutely love Talking Minds. Afterglow has grown on me.
July 7, 200718 yr Author Absolutely love Talking Minds. Afterglow has grown on me. I have to agree with you Dindy. I love every song that Gareth sings, but Talking Minds is Gareth singing the way he did when I fell in love with his voice. This is definitely my favourite kind of song from him. So smooth and so beautiful  I don't think its single material though and I hope he'll go for either Electric or Lost In You
July 8, 200718 yr Gareth has fallen to no 66 in the album chart :o Do you Gareth fans know if he's due to release another single - and when?
July 9, 200718 yr Gareth has fallen to no 66 in the album chart :o Do you Gareth fans know if he's due to release another single - and when? Thanks, no and no. Blimey, Gareth's star sign have been in retrograde. His party in the park type performances were on the wettest day of the year. His album signings took place during a week that has seen the worst floods in Yorkshire and other parts. He has received no airplay for Changes and very little for Angel on My Shoulder. Oh he has had some great TV appearances where he has been able to demonstrate his personality but only a couple of live performances of his material(same for some other artists too). Then his myspace is lost. He hasn't had it easy. Still his myspace is back LOOK HERE :yahoo:  so perhaps the rain will stop for his next single.
July 10, 200718 yr Someone had asked for a review of the album: Gareth Gates "Pictures Of The Other Side" You are not logged in. [log in]Home >> Reviews >> Albums / 2007 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Released: 25th June 2007. Three years out of the limelight is a considerably long time especially by the tortoise like pace of the music industry nowadays. So naturally, you would think, Gareth would find it hard to come back to a music scene now minus the acts that were around when he was last in the chart like Busted and S Club. From the sounds of this album though, he appears to have more or less combated any fears of flopping. Though not always consistent, "Pictures Of The Other Side" is a mature, enjoyable album, free of the vocal gymnastics present on his earlier repertoire of covers and ballads. He shines in particular on tracks like the current single "Angel On My Shoulder" with it's moody and simple orchestration, the upbeat and edgy "New Kid In Town" and the electro-tastic "Talking Minds" to name a few. Overall, I'm very impressed. I'd even go so far as to say I'm a converted fan now. (Alex MacGregor) http://www.ukmix.org/reviews/release.php?release_id=11602
