I have I Love Rock N Roll as one of the main CD songs in my car, love the song

Britney's remake of it was vile though :manson:

She recorded I Love Rock N Roll about 20 times before she made a hit out of it. She even had the ex- Pistols backing her on one version :)
I Love Rock N Roll , is the only song I know by her, good song though
she was ok, but suzi quatro was the original rock chick ten years earlier.

You forget that Joan was in another band mate - The Runaways, with Lita Ford... The Runaways were definitely more contemporaries of Suzi Quatro as both were around in the mid-70s (there's only really a couple of years between them, Joan was younger than Suzi, I believe she was 15 when The Runaways formed and Lita was only couple of years older)..... And tbh, I thought The Runaways were miles better than Suzi...

...Totally ruined by Britney.... <_< Thanks to her godawful version of that song, I can never really listen to Joan's original without thinking of the sh!t version.....

How can one forget Joan's cover of 'Crimson and Clover'? Although I didn't particularly care for her cover, I will listen to it.

Would be interesting to see Joan and Lita re-unite The Runaways,no? I'd go see them if they ever did a reunion show near me.

If you heard Joan sing it live, you might like it better. :)

I dunno mate, it would be a tad embarrassing to hear a group of women in their 40s singing songs they wrote as teenagers....

If they did do a Runaways re-union it would have to be the way The New York Dolls did it - a whole new, original album as opposed to a mere nostalgia trip....

I always thought that Joan Jett's version was the original, and i came upon this video.

It turns out it was written and recorded in 1975 by a band called The Arrows.

Joan sang Cherry Bomb, that was a song penned for the Runaways' debut album..so it might not be a bad idea..I'm content with her being with the Blackhearts, though. :)

Also I have another 3 of her hits although only 2 of them charted in the UK.

You can listen to them too.

Do You Wanna Touch Me - HERE - cover of the Gary Glitter from 1972 (flopped in the UK)

Crimson & Clover - HERE - cover of Tommy James & The Shondells 1969 US #1

I Hate Myself For Loving You - HERE

And Joan totally butchered her cover version of The Sweets AC/DC. Her voice sounds sh!t and she totally ripped off the entire arrangement . Just copied and pasted with her vocals. Although it was only a b-side and album track off Sweet Fanny Adams album that was written by chinn/chapman, you'd think she could have played around with it a bit more and did a fresh version of it.

I'm sure the guys here will appreciate the beautiful Carmen Elecktra in the film clip though. ;)
