it's the same format as the Guinness series so no actual chart runs, just date of entry, peak position and weeks on chart.

I have read elsewhere from someone who saw a sample page that while all songs that have gone top 75 are listed, the weeks on chart is only shown for songs that actually made the top 40 and additionally are only the weeks the songs were actually in the top 40.

The amazon link has the sample pages but they are too small to see, but a poster at another board HAS seen them in proper size and it's top 40 weeks only.

The sample there looks to be the same format as the sample pages I was privileged to glimpse. I suggest that we all wait and see. I don't think I will be getting it, but then, that's because I have the data in it anyway, as most of you know. I agree with Zeus555 as well, because if this isn't a success then that will be that. The thing is, the OCC need to work out a) who the people buying the book are going to be (chart fans and the causal) and do a book for them (a sort of 'by the fans for the fans' with what we want that's saleable and B ) what would be actually be a good book to read. I suggest they look at the Joel Whitburn books for some ideas. Their is just something about Hardback Books which get me all tingly :D Plus, certainly as far as his Albums and Pop Singles 1940-55 book is concerned the pages are very good quality (compared to recent Hit Singles types books).

The other thing is that a web-type version of the book would be a lot better. I know a lot of people like books (as do I) but the thing is, the internet is here to stay and why not do a book like that? And yes, before anybody says, the OCC don;t have the resources personally to do it - but still! And I'm sure I know a few hundred chart fans (here as well as on other boards) who would happily correct the OCC's database given half a chance. I'd even do it for a small fee. B)
