His new album The Cartel: The Big Boss is due out next month and will feature a large slate of guest artists including Fergie, Jim Jones, The Pussycat Dolls, Akon and the Black Eyed Peas' Will.I.am. Talking about the album, the Puerto Rican superstar says he feels that reggaeton needs to expand as a genre, so the music on the new CD will be more diverse than in the past. Daddy Yankee, who's real name is Ramon Ayala, is not resting on his musical laurels. He's also leading a school cleaning and beautification project in his native Puerto Rico as well as acting as the spokesperson to the U.S. Hispanic community for the American Red Cross. He's also planning on launching his own charitable foundataion this year - Fundacion Corazon Guerrero. New Yorkers will have a chance to see him next month in the Puerto Rican Day Parade on June 10th. He'll be riding aboard MTV Tr3's float which isn't surprising as MTV Tr3 is featuring Daddy Yankee as artist of the month. source
