i agree with most of those choices as 'the worst' by the artists..

sandie shaw, jeff beck, silence is golden, ok, ... all poor tracks.

tbh i like most of those tracks... id pick out

lulu..................'the boat that i row'

4 tops...............'bernadette'

cat stevens.......'im gonna get me a gun'

turtles..............'happy together'

hendrix............'the wind cries mary'

monkees..........'a little bit me, a little bit you'

pparnold..........'first cut is the deepest'

are the best tracks there... interestingly they are largely some of the lesser known tracks by these artists.

dont you know lulu 'the boat that i row'?.. or not like it? i think its a great little popsong!

Boat That I Row :) written by Neil Diamond as well. Talk about credibility :D

pity he couldnt transfer his writing talent into his own material.. i really didnt rate his uk hits at all.. but his uk non hits from the mid 60's, and things he wrote for others were good

'solitary man' was a splendid track, as was 'cherry cherry' and 'girl youll be a woman soon'

His 60's Bang/Stateside stuff is amazing. I'm A Believer, A Little Bit Me A Little Bit You, Thank The Lord For The Night Time, The Long Way Home, Kentucky Woman, I Got The Feeling, Red Red Wine, Shilo and the songs you mentioned were pop classics all produced by Ellie Greenwich and Jeff Barry. Check out the Classics CD on Sony for all these and more.

I don't like it because I think it was unforgivable of Mickey Most to keep To Sir With Love as the B-side. That US #1 hit single is the reason that such a staggeringly poor Neil Diamond song went Top10 in the UK for Lulu.

Some top tunes there. Waterloo Sunset is in my all time fave songs. Sweet Soul Music is definitely an underrated track.

Which one of The Move's songs was the first track to be played on Radio 1. Was it I Can Hear the Grass Grow?
