May 28, 200718 yr Thanks munchkin. Great result for Will considering he hasn't released anything in over a year. :cheer:

May 28, 200718 yr What exactly do they mean by "Millenium" as I would have thought if they meant from 2000/01 then Will would have been higher? Whatever - it's a great result for someone who hasn't released in over a year.

May 29, 200718 yr Author It could be overall past sales and airplay in just the UK - Will has sold 7 million singles and albums and is played all the time on commercial radio. Perhaps they had a poll amongst all the commercial stations and they chose their favourite. I didn't hear the rest of the programme - it may be on their website. May 29, 200718 yr "Will Young's magnificent version of Hey Ya coming up shortly", :cheer: DJ's words not mine on Heart London, tune in and listen on Virgin media 918 or Sky 0124
May 29, 200718 yr Thanks for the info Suki. Are you still cat and fish sitting? :o Edited May 29, 200718 yr by chrysalis
May 29, 200718 yr "Will Young's magnificent version of Hey Ya coming up shortly", :cheer: DJ's words not mine on Heart London, tune in and listen on Virgin media 918 or Sky 0124 He just played it and mentioned Will won the best UK artist of all time yesterday and someone text in and said it was brilliant and said they were proud to be British having artists like Will, the DJ said when he first heard Will was covering outcast he was like what ??? but then said he heard it and thought what a triumph...he was really bigging it up :yahoo:
May 29, 200718 yr It's very good munchkin, :yahoo: I'm a bit surprised as to why CBR is deemed to be more successful than Coldplay or Will come to that. Don't think it's a success-based list, because otherwise Dido is extremely conspicuous by her absence.
May 29, 200718 yr Author Don't think it's a success-based list, because otherwise Dido is extremely conspicuous by her absence. Dido was playing when I tuned in - I think she was either #11 or #12.
May 30, 200718 yr Dido was playing when I tuned in - I think she was either #11 or #12. But she wasn't in the top 10, which proves my point. Surely she's sold more albums than Corinne Bailey-Rae. And Will has sold more than Corinne as well. Maybe this was another list voted for in some way? Toni xxx

Maybe this was another list voted for in some way? Toni xxx Maybe it's single & album sales & airplay combined. I'm sure if it were a public vote we would have heard about it.

Maybe this was another list voted for in some way? Toni xxx It can't have been on votes as no one knew about it, must have been airplay and album sales, most of those in the top 10 have had good airplay and the top 5 are played to death aren't they? Will got fantastic airplay with his releases from Friday's Child and Keep On, LRN, YG and especially WAI and ATL.

Dido hasn't released an album since 2003, has she?

Will got fantastic airplay with his releases from Friday's Child and Keep On, LRN, YG and especially WAI and ATL. If indeed it was on airplay and album sales then all I can say is that Will's far more popular overall than a certain person would have people believe. Obviously airplay has played a part but that doesn't always equate to album sales. An artist doesn't sell the number of albums he has without being popular with the general public, no matter how much airplay.
